Following the more conventional 6315 compensator / flash suppressor, which is based on the A2 TDP dimensions but with Forward Controls designed asymmetrical ports to improve muzzle rise compensation, the 1815 is in turn based on the 6315 dimensions, basic AR18 flash suppressor layout, with Forward Controls designed ports geometry to give it some muzzle rise compensation capabilities.

As its name implies, 1815 has its root in the AR18 flash suppressor, which has two upper prongs and a closed bottom, forming a 3 port flash suppressor. 1815 largely retains this layout, but when put next to one another, I think one would be hard pressed to see the resemblance.

So far, we can reveal that 1815's flash suppressor ability is better than that of the A2, which is to be expected from an open ended flash suppressor. We're making several changes to the geometry of the prongs and ports based on the tests we ran two weeks ago, so prototype pics don't reflect the final production units, we'll release the final prototype pics instead, later [BD]

Primary ignition (inside the muzzle device) is smaller, and secondary ignition (about 2 to 3 inches ahead of the muzzle) is also smaller than that of the A2.

I think he blurs the pics on purpose.

Probably so, he's gonna start putting nipple pics with electrical on them in his post.

The flash suppression pics weren't blurred, it was dark [BD]

But there are good reasons for not posting pics of the prototype yet. When I do a search for FCD 6315, I see old prototype pics from posts we had about it from months and months ago. Since the project has been made public so early on, I'd like to control the search results, by posting pics of only the production ready prototypes, not prototypes that may be misleading for those that don't read the text and context in which the early prototype pics were posted.

Here's a pic of the 1815 prototype next to the 6315. From this angle, the changes we'll be making aren't visible, and it doesn't show the port sizes and angles.

1815 will have a wire cutter notch at 6 o'clock, there's already a port at 12 o'clock, so the 6 0'clock notch is an easy choice. On the 6315, these wire cutter notches are placed at 3 and 9 o'clock. On the 1815, for reasons we'll disclose when the production ready prototype is revealed, they aren't the best locations for the notches ;)

Makes me wonder how it would look like with some ASR action. [:D]
