Local gun store got a bunch of lowers in last week. I was hoping for a Spartan, but no such luck. So. I “settled” for this one. Not really, because I always wanted one, until the Spartan came out. Anyway, because of the saying that goes along with it, I was thinking a .458 SOCOM build. Haha. Never really read/heard much about them. Anybody have a reason NOT to go that route with it? Any crazy happenings with that round setup? OR...I could make this a 6.8SPC build...Opinions? Thanks!

One reason to not go .458 SOCOM:

Ammo is between $1.50 and $2.00 per round.

If you can afford to shoot it, then by all means.

Thats what my .45-70 costs to shoot. Good grief!! Never-mind. Lol. Guess I’ll stick to 6.8 then probably. Or whatever else. I don’t know. I’ll figure it out later. Haha. Glad you informed me of that though! Thanks.

I think you will like the 6.8 ... ammo costs have become "reasonable" - downrange energy, and lots of bullet weight choices.

The more I read up on it, the more I am leaning that way. Seems like ammo selection is decent too. Bullets wise. Weights, and intended usage. It seems to be like a decent hog round too for the most part.
