Please school me on Remington 700 scope bases. I have a long action SPS in .30-06. I want the switch the Weaver bases to a one piece 1913 base but don't have a clue what makes one good or bad other than manufacturer reputation. Thanks.

I've got a Nightforce base on my Savage bolt gun. Pretty solid option, IMO

Follow his directions on bedding the top rail and it will be perfect.

they all more or less do the same thing. There are two main things you have to account for, in my opinion; how much build in MOA you want, and if the rail overhangs the recoil lug. The recoil lug overhang has potential to interfere with the objective bell, depending on how far back you want to mount your optic.

Like most things, the difference between something cheap and something expensive is the manufacturing tolerances build into each unit.

Buy from a reputable manufacturer and you'll be fine. Badger, Nightforce, Larue, Seekins are the names that immediately come to mind. I would personally expect to pay between $90 to $150 for a base... Can't remember the last time I actually bought one though...

I asked the same question years ago for my Rem 700. Badger Ordnance.
I chose the 20MOA knowing that I'd likely never need it.
