Good to know they do not expire. Hopefully my .308 choice will be back in stock soon. Ranier has really gained a lot of cred with me, both for their original donation and generosity post-drawing.

RA needs to find a new supplier for their website hosting. I haven't been able to navigate their website without gateway timeout errors for several days now. Or maybe it's because all of us keep hitting their site drooling over Ultramatch barrels trying to figure out which one to buy?

RA is trying to chase all the bugs after their server move. If you have issues with the website, send them an email with your account email, and they'll look into it. It's been a small percentage of accounts still affected.

I believe I will. Thanks for the heads-up. I've read that before and had forgotten all about the issues with factory loads, not to mention short barrel life. Man, if it were as cheap as .223, barrel cost wouldn't be a problem, but shooting with any kind of frequency at all makes that unpleasantly expensive. I'm sure I'll find something to finish this receiver set I have sitting around.

Well, that ends up being an expensive discount, as I'm building a whole new upper around the barrel. Ordered a new Aero complete upper, Griffin Armament Taper Mount Flash Comp, and a Geissele Mk14 15". Should make for a nice recce upper.

More barrel material = potentially more accuracy/rigidity.
Deeper, more elaborate flutes available with a thicker barrel.

They were thinking about just doing .875 barrels, but didn't want to go that thick, for weight reasons. They decided why not do a custom .800, since Superlative was willing to make blocks.

You may or may not agree with the logic or their thinking, but that's how it was explained to me.

You can't use another gas block, I'm not aware of anyone else that offers a .800 seat GB. The barrel comes with it and it's pinnable if you so desire.

They do make a MK18 10.3" length Mod 2 barrel in a .750 GB where you could use the Geissele block. It's currently out of stock though.

Um it comes with a block voodoo..and unless your honing it out a 750 block isn’t gonna fit a .800 seat..

I got that, I have a geissele block sitting here looking at me and don't want to use the rainier one but it seems as though it comes with it. I'd rather stay with a .750, but I guess I can compromise.

You won't regret getting a Gen 2 UM barrel. Don't let the gas block hold you back.
