Since Rainier is nice enough to give us a code for their awesome barrels, I think I may build a .308 SPR rifle.

So provide suggestions here for parts. Not looking anything super gucci, aero blem upper and lower come to mind.

Thinking about 1000m shooting at furthest end but 600y as the target distance for application.

Barrels I am considering:

leaning more towards 18 inch

I am doing the same. I went 16” due to suppressor and I don’t feel like 2” really gives up anything. I am also going to utilize their adjustable gas block.

They are OOS right now, but more is on the way.

600-1000, I'd just go 6.5 CM

Bullet selection and outside factors matter more when trying to get out to a grand or more with a .308.

On that note I'm with UWone on the 6.5 CM.

Either way you go a 20 MOA mount will be useful. SPHUR is the best one I've personally used.

that's nice. I may have to wait. Wonder when it'll be in stock

Same components except the barrel. Price difference is negligible

not worried about the build, worried about the price per round.

I went with Rainier's UM Polished Fluted 18" on a previous 308 build. Not disappointed. My old eyes can squeak out 3/4" and I'm sure a younger/better shooter could cut some off that. Great barrels.

Good 308 vs 6.5 ammo.... I would say it's negligible. Plinking 308 is cheaper vs 6.5 though.

I was looking at this one:

https://www.rainierarms.com/rainier-arms-ultramatch-mod2-308-dpms-gen-2-spec-800-gas-block-18-satin-non-fluted-bundle/

It says “Fits Gen2 DPMS Short frame”

Does that mean it won’t work in a regular AR10 upper, like the Rainier Ultramatch billet/Ambi set?

Or is this the one I’d need:
