New world record for long range shooting.

Hit a 32 inch by 48 inch plate at 6,012 yards (over 3.4 miles).

The bullet flew over 1,400 feet above the ground before coming back down and hitting the target.

Approximately a 17 second time of flight from trigger pull to connection.

That' cool. I just wonder how much hold over the shooter had to do, to get even close to the targeted to hit that. Even with a spotter, that is freakin incredible. Holding over to give a 1400 feet is insanely great.

I literally cannot wrap my head around a shot that long.

Me either. I'm assuming this is a guy who was/is a spec op guy, with a spotter. It's hard to believe that one guy can figure that the shot was 1400 ft. just taking a wild ass guess. Either way, that dude was one bad ass shot. If you consider that 1400 is a couple of atmosphere, and very possibly is dealing with a number of different wind conditions. The shooter has my respect![adore]Hell, until I get my cataract surgery, I'm lucky to hit anything 100 yds or less. [:D]

A semantics question, but... Is this a rifle shot anymore? This seems more like indirect fire. Is a mortar or artillery a rifle shot?

Still an impressive feat at 22 shots.

According to the video the hold over was 625 MOA.

I don't know if you watched the video but they have a new technology they were trying out. They have the little periscope thing that they use but also another attachment that does a one inch offset to the left of the barrel so the elevation of the barrel doesn't obscure the site picture. If I remember right they said that rifle has the capability to adjust up to 1000 MOA.

Insane.

Do you feel like the CM is photobombing that collection of long range hitters? It's like the 50 year-old guy wearing his H.S. varsity jacket because its his biggest achievement.

Agree with Gator on indirect fire. You could probably catch the thing with a ball glove.

Sounds like a description of a mortar system
