Would this be a good safety handgun for the home?

I don't own one, but I have shot my co-worker's. It shot very well, but if it's for home defense only you may consider something larger. Another nice EDC that's easy to conceal is a M&P Shield.

My wife's little .25 that I bought her 2 years ago for Christmas - and it's not a scratch on the grip - just another dang piece of cat fur.
Had her do the 4473 for this and had it called in with her name. Wanted to verify that as a legal green card holder they'd approve it. They did. [:)]

I still need to do some re-finishing for it, but it works well. It an Italian Tanfoglio .25ACP that was imported by FIE. The purple grips are after market grips. She wanted purple grips. I still have the original black ones of course.

Bahahaha. What's funny about this is I was trying to get a pic of my tattoo and holding the M&P but my ginger arm hair keeps throwing everything off. It's a struggle, lol.

Hahaha. It took quite a bit when I first tried this retarded hair style (again, the wife likes it) but now I found "hair clay".

nice pics how you like your ruger .22

Thanks, the Ruger is great. We've had it for two years and not had a single issue that wasn't due to bad rounds, it's the best .22 pistol we've ever had besides the Mark III. My wife and I went through two P22s and a Mosquito before these came out, all three of them were junk so we were skeptical but it just plain works. I'd like to try an M&P 22 someday so I can compare them, but I wouldn't consider trading the SR22-P for any anything because it runs so well.

Why a g42 and now a p938?

Consistency mainly. That sounds ironic considering I currently EDC an SAO Sig, but I've been training with Glocks almost exclusively for the last two years so it really makes sense.

I also like how streamlined the G42 is for EDC, and lets face it, Glocks are kinda ugly, so I don't feel as bad beating them up, sweating all over them, scratching them on car keys, etc. I weep a little when my $120 handmade custom rosewood grips swell with sweat and get gouged up. [BD]

I used to be a die-hard DA/SA and SAO CZ and Sig fan, but slowly steel guns, hammers, manual safties, etc. started to get old and I was shooting nothing but Glocks all the time. Once I started getting out of practice with them, I decided to slowly start replacing them all. In fact, the P238 and a CZ P-07 are the only two I still have out of 11 DA/SA or SAO pistols I had two years ago.

My 586 carry comp been carrying this lately, my favorite revolver having trouble finding a holster for it. Usually people look at me funny when I say I carry a revolver but it's a powerful little 7 shot 357. I usually pull it out when it's cold and tote around in a home made holster appendix style (Almish country) and a couple speed strip in my pocket and a speed loader in my jacket pocket. The compensator destroys your night vision with cheap ammo and the front night sights getting dim but it's a great gun and very close to the issue revolver at work. Just wish I could figure out the moon clips I'm afraid to carry them because they bend easy but they are fast as hell with fmj on the range.

Carbon does this Glock normally wear a light, or is it just being used as a kickstand?

CarbonScoring
29 December 2014, 09:45
No, the gun is typically just used at the range, so I normally don't put a light on it. I had the x300 sitting around so I thought I'd see how it felt. My carry G19 has an Inforce APL which I prefer the feel of on pistols. I like the x300 more on rifles.

So, just a kickstand. [:D]

Thanks, brother. I got it from my wife's grandfather who was pruning down his collection a few year back. It is the smoothest shooting handgun I own, even double action. The action is perfect...the trigger just glides back and is very light

Here's a sad story for you:

I was gun shopping a few weeks ago with my neigbor who was looking for a S&W 686, and a guy was buying a Python (6" Stainless) from the Used Guns shelf. The ticket rang it up as $473!!!!!! Apparently the previous owner traded it straight up for some semi auto 9mm (sale price of $473, so the trade in value of the Python was tagged as $473). The gun store employee said the first person who picked it up bought it, which was 5 minutes before we got there. I would have snatched it up on the spot.

Ah, land of the granola-crunchies. My father and his 6 brothers grew up in Asheville. My grandmother owned and ran a motel for 40 odd years right near the downtown area. It is a wonderful little town, and the outdoor-to-do-list is really good. Plus there are a ton of breweries, including new belgium and sierra nevada, and 170-180 restaurants. We have a family reunion there every-other year and shoot a lot of sporting clays as the family activity.

I picked up this NAA Sidewinder locally today. Removing the cylinder loading turned me off micros until this standard flip-out type model came along. Barely used and with two boxes of ammo, saved over $100 from new. The same size as an old single shot derringer I had long ago, but a helluva lot more lethality. Now if I can just keep from blowing off a support hand fingertip.

WARNING: Long but somewhat amusing story to go along with the gun pic!

Ever since it hit the market, i've been hearing about how good the trigger on the Walther PPQ is. So, being a fan of German guns, i finally caved (it took a lot of convincing for me to buy another firearm [BD] ) and decided to hunt one down and try it for myself. Well, all i could find for the longest time were the M2 version of the PPQ, which has an American style button mag release. I wanted the M1 version, which has HK style paddle mag release. Monday last week, a friend sent me a text and said "Bud's has M1 PPQs for $460! I know you've been wanting one! I just ordered one myself!". Cool, i'll check it out when i get home from work. Well, by the time i got home, the price was up to $550. I sent a text to my friend saying i missed the sale, and if he ever decides to sell his, i have first dibs. Two days later, he texts me back saying he just bought a FNS Compact, did i still want a PPQ? Why yes, yes i do. So while the gun was in transit to the FFL we use, he sold it to me for the $460 sale price that he scored! I picked it up from my FFL this past Sunday. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but so far i like it a lot! It fits my hand well, and the trigger is every bit as nice as i've heard it is (although i think i prefer the trigger on the HK VP9 by a small margin). So, without further adieu...

Nice! I've been dry firing it with snap caps, and really dig the trigger. Ought to be a good little shooter. Glad to hear your have run flawlessly! I ordered up a couple spare 15 and 17 round Walther mags. Definitely sucks the M1 and M2 mags aren't interchangeable. The Navy is nice. You need a can for that threaded barrel. [BD]

Thanks, yeah I thought the Inforce complimented the VP9 pretty well. I like the button interface on the light which was the primary reason for selecting it, but the gray goes well with the HK's finish. Really banking on a 45 version with a threaded barrel as a suppressor host, striker fired HK45 goodness. Would also like to see an FDE version, then I may have to send the black VP9 to Zevtech for some "mild" treatment :P if they would do the work.

I agree . In fact, Trijicon HDs are better for everything compared to the TFOs, IMHO. I love the U-notch and how easy it is to find the front sight. I just wish they weren't so expensive. I can almost buy two sets of Meprolights for the cost of one set of HDs. That said, the HDs will most likely find their way on to other guns as i replace sights.

I like Trijicons for one main reason - I have not broken them yet.

I have broken several sights (ameriglo's mostly). They are accurate but not in the way I prefer sighting systems to be. At 25yards most trijicon sights require an 8-ball or "low" hold which I really despise. I prefer the "ledge of the front sight" cutting the target in half hold that many other sights (ameriglo, XS) have.

...I really should do a sight write up

The only Trijicon sights i currently own are the HDs, and i find i have to use the "cover hold" (cover the center of the target with the dot) with them on my USP Compact. On my guns with adjustable sights, i like to set them up as you said your preferred hold is, splitting the target with the top of the front sight. The 6 o'clock hold drives me bat shit crazy.

German guns seem to have that issue, especially higher than glock height over bore guns.

I had a sig and fns9 that did that out of the box, drove me nuts since I cant get the pinpoint accuracy I wanted.

Now that you mention it, it does seem to be a German gun thing. My HKs and Sigs alike require a "cover hold". It's not my preferred hold, but i've grown accustomed to it. If they had a 6 o'clock hold, they'd all be getting new sights to fix that.

Personally, it is not my preferred method for iron sights on pistols. I prefer to see my target, not cover it - draw your own logical/tactical/legal conclusions with that.

I've got you 5x5. And i don't disagree with you at all. My logic behind just learning to shoot with that sight picture is if i'm aiming center of mass at self defense ranges, the front sight will obscure very little of my target.

Txfilmmaker

I remember the first class I took where I had to shoot three targets quickly. They were about 12' away. I was told to draw, shoot two of the targets center mass. The third one was to be shot in a 3x5" section of the head. Ocular cavity? Anyway, after my turn, I remember realizing that I never looked at my sights until the head shot. All of my shots were on target, but it was an interesting discovery. That said, I do like the six o'clock hold.

Borrowed a P238 from a friend to take to the range today and figured I might as well take some pics while I had it.

Nokia Lumia Icon Windows Phone 8.1

thanks man it really is about the lighting. after I post them and then look at them on the computer I see things that I wish I could touch up or cover up. Maybe after the wife takes this photography class we will get a dedicated PC for photo editing.

I need to upgrade mine and my processor.

Didn't realize this little thing had night sights until I went into my safe this morning and saw them looking back at me. They were saying "take my picture!" So I obliged.
