5947Agree wholeheartedly. I like the HK paddles, and even find the Walther setup similarly easier to work without completely changing my grip.

I fondled one of those and a p10c lately.. grip felt a hair better on the 509,but the trigger...yuck..

The Cz felt good and probably the best out of the box striker fire trigger I’ve felt..

But that fde...:P

So how do you like it?

Kind of want one, but I don't want to buy magazines for yet another platform.
So far, I like the feel a lot. The mag catch is easily manipulated with out having to do thumbnastics. I was supposed to go the range today, but it didn't pan out. And, aside for the ejections, it's a truly ambi pistol. Now I just have to practice locking the slide back left handed. With only dry firing complaint is the trigger. Not as smooth as my XDm which it is replacing, but it's not broken in.

Thanks. Yes, one 3" and one 5" 625 both "pre-lock". The five incher was purchased the year that model was introduced.

Some junk I built, have had parts for over a year, milling was easy, had a few hiccups with parts and fitment. But all is good now. (Its complete minus a barrel, borrowing from oem g19 barrel for now)

I would think so. Some sandpaper and Cerakote would go a long way too. Parts are definitely worth more than he paid.

Absolutely 100% Positively we (meaning Battlecock and myself) won't try to save that. Salvaged stippling is no bueno, the results are always worse and Peter isn't into doing worse, and coating doesn't hide flaws. We used to do it reluctantly but now we'd rather ask the customer to spend the $100 with Glock for a replacement or help them source a new frame, for everyone's benefit.

Thanks! It was the 3rd (and sadly, the last) revolver that I purchased from an estate sale that Smelly Pirate Firearms (my go-to FFL dealer) has been managing.

The finish is about what you'd expect from a gun that was in service, then rescued by a collector. What I find amazing is that mechanically - It's in amazing shape shape given it's century of life and military service. Extremely tight and exact in timing and movement. DA trigger pull is on the heavy side, but it's very smooth. SA trigger is great. The cylinder timing is perfect. I can't wait to put some rounds through it.

This gun may not seem like a big deal, but this is a real Grail gun for two reasons. 1) The S&W 4506 was my duty gun over most of my 10 yrs as a LEO. 2) This particular pistol had a makeover this year by the legendary gunsmith Wayne Novak. And it's just AMAZING, smooth as butter! Duty action job, reliability package, carry bevel package, and then bead-blasted so it looks brand new. That is exactly the work I wanted to have done on my 4506 back in the day, but really just couldn't afford it.

Yes sir. Kansas Law Dog. Started as a County CO, then worked 3.5 years for the KS DOC, and finally 6 yrs as a Deputy Sheriff/Investigator. Started 20 yrs old, out at 30 yrs old. Loved it, but got burned out, plus I had not realized the toll that some cases/situations had taken on me. Not going to lie - I've been out of LE for 20 yrs this year, have missed it some almost every day. [emoji16]

Yepper Excellent. Ha..h.. I have a set of Johnson design s on my "1911" Springer 9mm which are very similar. Not a lot of options for it, as they use a proprietary dovetail. Hoping they're as good as the Trijicon. No one else seems to make them for the TRO, which comes from the factory with a adjustable rear sight. But the Trijicon HD's are great, especially for the more "mature" eyes.[wow] Excellent... Release the hounds......

I completely agree! I carried my 4506 on duty for 7 yrs, and it was a great sidearm. I've also carried a S&W 4013 TSW for a number of years both off-duty and CCW.

The reason I bought and carried the 4506 was because Mas Ayoob wrote a couple of great gun mags. One was about him putting cattle down at a slaughter house using a 4506 filled with Federal HydroShoks. That was all it took for me. I completely agree! I carried my 4506 on duty for 7 yrs, and it was a great sidearm. I've also carried a S&W 4013 TSW for a number of years both off-duty and CCW.

The reason I bought and carried the 4506 was because Mas Ayoob wrote a couple of great gun mags. One was about him putting cattle down at a slaughter house using a 4506 filled with Federal HydroShoks. That was all it took for me. I bought the 4506, and always carried 230 gr HydroShoks in my 5 duty mags. I carried a 6906 for CCW for years. Always liked the full metal frame. I always wanted to get the tactical model, but never ended up getting one. Maybe one of these days.

You might actually like this trigger - it’s SAO. This is the 745, the SAO version of the more common 645 DA/SA 2nd Gen S&W semiautos. Now I’m looking for an 845, which is a Performance Center version of this 745. I’m working my way down the list. [emoji6]

I have to agree, the Apex trigger mages a hell of a difference. I loved everything about my 509M except for the damn trigger. I was anxious about replacing it due to the notoriously difficult tapered pin that has to be displaced. When Apex finally offered a simple jig to ease this operation, I jumped on it and didn't look back. It really did it's thing, and the rest of the removal and install was fairly straightforward following their video. No Sir, it is an old three-screw Super Blackhawk I purchased in 1970. Wilson Combat hard-chromed it for me in the early 80's as I deer hunted with it quite often back then. Also had it Mag-na-Ported. Still clover-leafs (off sand bags) at 50 yards.

I have 4 revolvers that use moon clips now. I'm already faster at reloads with them than I am with traditional speedloaders. And I carried speedloaders on duty in my first LEO job. Got pretty good with them.

Thanks, it’s had Apex internals in it for a while. I have the Apex flatty on my M&P 2.0 and love it, but they won’t sell just the trigger anymore. I don’t feel like paying all that for just the flatty and swapping it out.

Correct - they use proprietary 8 round S&W 945 mags. I have 3. Just bid on 2 more - right now they are about $100 a crack. [emoji15]

It's a great shooter, extremely accurate if I do my part. The one thing I would change - the trigger is too light. It's way too easy too accidently fire 2 shots with one intended trigger pull. It could never be a carry gun "as is".

Brutal is an accurate description. Yes, I try to put some rounds through it every time I hit the range, since I constantly carry it. You can can put about 50 rounds down range before you have next-day pain. I made the mistake of shooting approximately 75 rounds through it the first time I took it to the range. Hand was sore for a few days after. It's definitely not a range toy; it's all business.

That said, they are very well made, almost custom crafted. It has the smoothest DAO trigger of any gun I own, and that's saying something. You do have to resolve the recoil spring every 200 rounds but that's no big deal. I have several them stocked up, plus Wolff stocks them as well.

I was in the same boat - I wanted one badly, but lacked the funds. This gun was made in 2000, I got it from a guy on GB. He was super-nice, let me make 2 payments on it. I think I bought it in about 2005-2006. Should have bought more mags then, they were only about $25.

Swapped an AR for this 1969 Hi-Power. Long time on the bucket list. Mag disconnect may or may not have been removed. One empty mag drops the other does not. Trigger is surprisingly good - smooth, no grit and maybe 3-4 lbs pull.

My new Glock slide with RMR/Holosun cut should arrive this weekend with the matching Cerakote pattern as my current comp pistol & rifle have along with the Holosun 507C X2 mounted on it. Just need to order some OEM parts for it so I don’t have to cannibalize my current comp slide (I want to keep it as a backup with my Dawson irons). Anywhere to look that has Gen 3 backplate, striker, and the other assorted parts? Don’t need iron sights or barrel.

Also, a family heirloom. Browning HP made in Belgium that’s almost twice my age. The trigger is ridiculously smooth. Just wish the mags would drop freely but I’m not modifying it in any way at all:

Rainier has some Arms Republic and Rainier Arms branded slide internal kits. I just picked one up myself.

Rainier has some Arms Republic and Rainier Arms branded slide internal kits. I just picked one up myself.

The RA one is OOS for Gen 3 19 but not in a rush. I put an email notification in there and will snag one as soon as I can. Thanks man

I have so many random recoil springs, I just order the 17 or 19, which ever is in stock.

Thank you! Yes to both [:D] I have a brace of 625's. A five inch "Model of 1988" that I purchased the year they were released. The one shown is a three inch "Model of 1989" in a Lobo holster.
