Think it is possible to cerakote a pair of Oakley frames? I got a pair real cheap and want to customize them. I have a pair of tr-25 lenses and want to make these a custom pair of shooting glasses. I want to cerakote them fde or Patriot brown. Do you think the frames would hold up with being baked?

I've never had a pair done, but I know it's been done regularly.

Oh Good Lord! Please excuse this guy's use of the phrase "assault rifles". I should have watched the whole thing before posting. [emoji849] Despite the fact he's clearly not a gun guy, his Burnt Bronze Cerakote Oakleys are pretty cool.

I got the shades at a price I couldn't pass up. $80 for a brand new pair of Oakley's on clearance at sunglass hut. I shouldn't have gotten them with all my other expenses...but yeah

Just a FYI, They have air dry cerakote also.

I’m assuming that’s what they use.

You can bake at a lower temp for longer periods too. I do Magpul plastics at 160*. Tried to do some Accuracy International panels at 160* and they warped. I’d imagine frames have some temp resistance or they would deform in hot vehicles. The no bake isn’t durable at all compared to the temp cured.

Fun fact: Oakley lenses will delaminate if left in a hot car AND exposed to sunlight. Yes, you read that right, sunglasses that will delaminate when exposed to sun. It's retarded, but it's happened to me. Mine were prescription, but when I called Standard Issue, they stated you couldn't leave the lenses exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time in a hot car. I have since kept mine out of the sun but they still live in a hot car and they've been fine.

As you said, Sinner, I'm guessing the heat would be okay, but just putting it out there that the lenses aren't as chemically robust as they are ballistically robust.

Huh...well I guess on the low side you’d be alright at like 150 ish..

I’ve never used the air stuff but I assume it’s decent, better then regular spray can paint I’d guess.

Post up your results!
