Is the hybrid ammo the cased-telescoped cartridge? Or is it the XM1186?

Here (http://soldiersystems.net/2018/10/08/ausa-18-sig-sauer-unveils-belt-fed-machine-gun-carbine-and-hybrid-ammunition-next-generation-squad-weapon-candidates/) is an older article about Sig's submissions to the testing. Some close up photos of the hybrid ammo. I'm not up to speed on this stuff at all so I can't answer your question.

Doesn't look like it will be 6.8SPC ...

The SIG SAUER 6.8mm hybrid ammunition is designed for increased penetration at greater distances. Cohen continued, “using patent-pending technology the SIG SAUER Ammunition division has engineered a completely new cartridge resulting in a more compact round, with increased velocity and accuracy, while delivering a substantial reduction in the weight of the ammunition.”

Same problem as with cammo; too damn many fingers in the pot. If they'd pick one, make it uniform and get it done, us taxpayers would save a shitload of money, same as with the damn cammo patterns.

We’ll see. These good idea fairy things have crashed and burned in the past so I will reserve judgment to see what actually gets in the hands of front line troops beyond a test basis

My understanding is that Sig is one of three to make it to the next round:

I'm beginning to wonder if I need to start stocking up on 6.8 SPC. I put one together late last winter/early spring, while I was having some medical issues. Haven't even taken it to the range yet. No reason to panic yet, but I thought if they would adopt the SPC, just like 5.62, ammo would be plentiful and cheap for years to come.
