Still doesn't address the gap as well as I'd like.

I wish the MOE grip just came with a built-in gapper for $5, or even $10, more. Or that the MIAD front strap that has the molded-in triggerguard didn't have that little bump on it.

A pretty cheap and functional item for people who are looking for something a little extra on their carbine.

I love magpul stuff, but what's the advantage (besides being a LITTLE cheaper) than the standard aluminum version?

Still cool though.

You've got to remember that the MOE lineup is designed as an OEM alternative for manufacturers. For a manufacturer, its a nice option when dropped on thousands of weapons being sold to make them stand apart. For individual sales, it doesn't mean much, most of us are more than willing to slap on whatever we like after we buy the weapon in its basic form.

I did notice there was a small gap/edge that I wish was filled in a bit more. However, it is better than the gap experienced with the standard trigger guard in place.

Eric, it's that little edge at the back that gets me, and it happens with the metal version too. It can be seen both in your picture and the ones at the start of the thread. They need to add just a bit more material to the very back end of the trigger guard to get it even with, or slightly below, the "wings". At least in your picture it looks less bad than in the Magpul pics.

I like the idea, but to me, $9 is a little over-the-top for what your getting. They need to sell those in a little basket for $.50 each ;) I'm looking into them anyway.

You're kidding right?

You do realize that it probably cost ( roughly ) 12,000.00 for the tooling to
produce that part. At .50 a unit, they would have to sell 24,000 of them just
to recoup the tooling cost. Which of course doesn't take into account the
costs involved in prototyping, product packaging, tool ammortization or the
per part cost for that matter.

Even at 9.00 a unit ( which is more than fair market value imo ), they have
to sell over 1500 units before they begin to see any profit whatsoever.

Injection molding isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

It would cost me literally thousands of dollars to go to Egypt and bring back a cubic foot of desert sand. That doesn't mean that the market value of desert sand is several thousand dollars per cubic foot.

It says "Magpul" on it so it will sell. But for everyone else if market price is lower than cost to produce then you either don't produce or you find a way to cut costs.

Just installed mine on my rifle last night I'll post a couple pictures of it. It's teamed up w/ a Tango Down grip and it actually looks really good, there's absolutely no gap between triggerguard and grip.

Some people don't realize how expensive the tooling can be. Tooling is a huge block of solid metal that's compress together and the plastics (or what ever material Magpul calls it) is injected in. I would imagine that this tooling would be up to $24k, but definitely above $10k. The other equipment to do the moving of the blocks, etc would be expensive as well. Probably does multiple trigger guards at a time since it would make no sense to mold inject only 1 trigger guard. It's a interesting process. For this trigger guard I wouldn't think R&D would be that much of a cost factor considering they are just producing the Enhanced trigger guard with PMAG material. Both of which they are experts at making.
