Take a good look at Radians Afterburner+Ramjet compensator, I have read alot of great things about it. There is a bunch of youtube videos on it and if I am not mistaken it reduces recoil/muzzle flip by 40%. Also using heavy for caliber rounds like 147g non +P also helps alot with recoil and muzzle flip. Add in a Tungsten guide rod and you will have a super flat shooting pistol! I run the tungsten guide rod in all my glocks, super impressed with it... I think one of the great things about the Radian setup is that if you start with a standard factory glock all you have to do is switch back to the factory barrel to have a non comped pistol if you want to do so. Your not locked into a pistol that has a permanent comp cutouts...

Tungsten? Is that for weight to keep the rise down? I have lights do that role and doubles as an actual light if needed.

" This SUPER HEAVY Tungsten Guide Rod is guaranteed to reduce felt recoil and significantly reduce muzzle jump." Im not a fan of running lights on my pistols, it adds bulk and you also need to buy a special holster. The odds of actually needing a light on my pistol is extremely low, I dont go running into dark buildings, I stay out of dark alleys and my situational awareness is always at 110%... I have to build my gear on what I beleive I will run into 99.9% of the time and not the "what if" factor of the last .1% Where we live and what we do and where we go will determine what we need, some guys feel the need to run lights on their pistols and there is nothing wrong with that. There is no one size fits all when it comes to our personal safety.

Monsoon Tactical has typically gotten good reviews if you really wanna port, though I personally prefer comps. Chunk ports can cause some loss in accuracy.

Any of you guys done any low light shooting with a comped or ported pistol? It just dawned on me that since a good part of the flash is now being diected upwards in your line of site thats got to affect things...

Glock19C test by Honest Outlaw. Start about 1:50. I put a standard barrel in mine when I carried it. If needed to defend at night I have to think the vertical fireball would affect my night vision.

(https://www.radianweapons.com/en/2464272/2464273) That's what I'm thinking, plus I might carry one pistol in daytime, and another at night. One thing I haven't heard mentioned is that muzzle blast out of a non comp/ported barrel in a handgun at night isn't all that helpful either. Anyway, went with Radian/Tungsten option so I can switch barrels back and force without a ported slide. New sights and slick up the trigger just a bit to avoid liability issues. Just waiting for the parts, now. Hopefully it'll work out.[:D]

I might have to take a look at the Radian for my G45 and trial a tungsten for my 17. The PMM micro comp soured me on comps because I was having stoppages but I have heard nothing but great reports from the Radian users, and some of those guys were using really weak ammo and it stayed cycling.

Come to think of it, there were some issues from a few videos back when Milspec Mojo was using a new NATO no name brand sourced from 9x19 but that's really it.

I wish I could give you some insight here, but I'm flying blind here going from word of mouth. Stone has given me some great leads in the past, and the reviews are great so I'm just winging it this time. Plus I really dig the idea of a "convertable" pistol. Just sayin....[:D] A pretty good review here:

Well, that's that then. No excuses now for me to not get one other than none being available for the Gen 5 19/45. Thanks!

I will also vouch for tungsten guide rods. When I was racing pistols I’d always use one. Back to back it with whatever the gun comes with (especially if the factory guide rod is polymer) and you can tell the difference.

I've used them in Glocks before and could tell the difference. I believe it will help with the inertia from recoil while the ported end helps with muzzle flip. Don't really know for sure what the heck's going to happen, will have to wait until everything get's here and try out some light and heavy (bullets) loads and see. I also have a boatload of Rem UMC 115 gn. to shoot up and finally have an excuse to shoot a bunch of it up, when I get everything together.:P

Ugh.

Yeah, I'm thinking I might try this on my G45, too. It sits in the safe unused, otherwise, so being able to add the Radian and use in my G17 holster intrigues me. But, that price is a bit tough and they are OOS, so perhaps a 2027 Black Friday deal....

I found one on Tacswap and for a hundred more and knew why he was overcharging so I said that if still available by this Friday, I'd buy. Two hours later it was sold. I'm thinking that this ain't snake oil after all.

But yep, price is definitely hard to swallow. However with that being said, I am on the dowanward slope as far as guns go. I am doing a very strict policy of completing what I already have or will need.

I just bought a 356X macro to replace my G43X MOS. All it needs now is a mag pouch for everyday spare mag carry, maybe a mag funnel, and 5 more factory 17's for it, then done done.

My 320Compact Carry came back from Sig after the voluntary trigger upgrade that was so long overdue (Sig's CS is top notch and super fast), going to get a factory red dot slide, Romeo X Pro red dot, 7 of the new Magpul alloy 17's for it, and a Safariland open top duty holster.

G45? was done done but going to get the Radian because reasons. G17? Same as the 45, was done but now getting the Tungsten, also because reasons.

Well, thanks guys... Now you got me giving the Glock 45 and Radian comp a real hard look... Could be my next project... ugh FWIW, i contacted Radian and they will be coming out with their comp for the G17 this year. Seems like it would be to long of a slide though, its better suited for the g19 or g45 IMO...

If it gets the 17 to fit into a G34 holster, then I'd be in.

If the Radian wouldn't fit my 45 into a 17's holster then I'd be out.

Safarilands are very expensive. Being able to use what I already have on hand is how things sell.

Got mine for a G19 Gen 3 from Brownells. Got a great deal on a special code offer of 320 plus tax and shipping. Just found out it was being shipped today.

So I'm taking a like new Gen 3 19 and adding:
Tru Glo night sights
Zev Pro-Connecter (just to remove the bump and slick up the pull without getting light and getting into liability issues)
Glock Store Tungsten recoil rod with 18lb. spring
and finally the Radian system, when it gets here from Brownells.

Will just set here and do it all in one shot, and report findings, however I don't have any scientific way to produce actual advertised reduction numbers, will just test 115gn to 147gn loads and give my percieved reduction. Target shots with stock barrell and no comp vs. guide rod and Radian system will have to be my guide, plus "percieved" recoil and muzzle flip perception.

If you have a shot timer you can do the pepsi challenge without and then with afterwards, then compare.

When I used to have the PMM single port on my G17, there was definitely a noticeable difference. Trying to find a holster was a pain, in the end I sold it and then bought a Zev RMR cut slide because they stopped making the 17 MOS Gen 5 and all I had was a 17 non MOS and I don't send slides out to be milled. I plan on getting the tungsten rod for it at some point, but it's already flatter than my 45 IMO, there's definitely a difference between rod and spring size.

No, unfortunately no timer. Whether or not I personally feel the differrence is worth the effort will be totally subjective, on my part.
