It's real, either way it's been pictured at the angle or lens fisheye.

I've seen it on my own pictures or in person, got alarmed, and nothing after inspection.

Not sure how he gets a sight picture when its mounted backwards... I wonder if he could move that broomstick handle back one more notch to render it ineffective. I bet the guy behind him is throwing empty shells up into the air. I could be wrong but it looks like he also forgot to remove the lense cover.
