Who is into building pistols?

I shoot pistols way more than rifles anymore and have been upgrading a few and bought some better versions of firearms I have carried for a long time. I made the mistake of buying an aftermarket frame for a slimline Glock and now I am trying to keep myself from going into the weeds remaking stuff I already own.

The dang cheapo SCT frame is leaps and bounds better than the Glock frame. It makes me wonder how much better a more high end frame might be. Then of course custom slides. This could get pricey.

I "assembled" a 1911 from scratch once, just to say I can. No machine work, just fitting fire control components, barrel bushing, and some frame rail fitting. Frame and slide were Colt "seconds" acquired from different wholesalers when I had an FFL. Purchased a Colt 22 ACE kit and shipped everything to Wilson Combat, and hat it all hard chromed to match. Turned out okay.

Slightly modifying other styles happens every now and then; sights and triggers. Right now, just not having the build enthusiasm I had when younger. Options now are vast, and the possibilities are pretty much endless. Enjoy your efforts, they are beneficial in many ways. Looking at groups, and saying, "Man! I built that." does a lot for your self esteem.

I have a new apex trigger coming for my shield and am considering getting the slide milled for a mini rds of some sort.

Also have a PSA dagger on the way :D

KM3 still has my glock slide that I was having done..... 3 years ago?? It's my fault as I fell off the face of the earth so to speak and went back and forth with him a few times and never sent money or a new frame.... So I have no idea whats up with it now.

Assembly is probably a much better term. Like a 15 minute Lego project. With a Glock platform it's probably 5 minutes to install a lower and 4 minutes of that is removing it from packaging and trying to find the pin you dropped on the carpet.

This evening I picked up a stripped full-size SCT frame that I ordered. Just waiting for the parts I ordered from another vendor to get here to put together a budget build . I think It will be under $350 for all the parts except an optic. Not bad for all new optic cut slide and serialized frame I ran the completed slide the other day and it surprised me how well it did on an old early gen 3 frame G-22.

I wouldn't mind building a nice 1911 and taking some time with it. Just because.

Yeah, with the popularity of Glock / P80 and the modularity of the Sig 320 series, I went down this rabbit hole a few years ago. I realized I was adding pistols to the collection that I would never have time to shoot so was able to get my addiction back under control. Not buying much anymore although I'd still like to add an RMR / RDS to a few pistols that I actually do shoot. I do wish I had gotten a 2011 frame/mags before WA put the 10+ mag ban in effect.

Hoping my confidence doesn't turn false. I just spent all day wiring outlets and new LED lights in my shop for incoming tools. It's amazing how little in the way of power equipment translates from wood to metal!
