What a blast! My dad and I went to the range on saturday with our M4s and handguns. We wanted to see how the ARs would do at longer ranges so we started at 420yds shooting at a torso gong. It was amazing I just put the Eotech dot right on the Center of the gong and Boom.... Ping! we were hitting it pretty consistantly at this distance.

Dad wanted to see what his Glock 22 would do at 420yds and he hit the gong 3 times out of 16 rounds I was totally amazed. He wasn't elevating hardly at all, maybe 3-4 feet. I pulled out my 23c and tried but I was having to elevate about 30 feet to make it out there, but I never hit the gong. We later decided the elevation differences was ammo, he was shooting Speer Lawman and I was shooting Blazer.

After that we moved to 500yds and shot at the gongs some more with our rifles. this distance required about a foot of elevation, but the hits were still consistant. I wanted to move further back but we ran short on time. I can't wait to get back out there. It beat the hell out of shooting paper at 50yds.

Oh yeah his rifle ammo was American Eagle and mine was the Monarch steel cased from Academy.

The EOtechs are great! Always work as advertised. What irons do you have on your AR? Did you try them at long range?

You have found out just how "easy" it is to make hits with an AR at long(er) ranges. I really enjoyed the last long range trip we shot out to 700 yards.

600 & 700 yard targets shot with a 16" AR with 5.56 chamber firing M855 surplus with a 4 power IOR scope.
