I am most assuredly a "handgunner" first and foremost. I've had my concealed carry license for 28 years and have been an active competitor in multiple handgun disciplines. Though I remain a fan of the k-frame S&W revolvers (and carry my 3-inch model 66 on occasion), over the last 5 years my G17 has become my favorite handgun. I have now shot it more than any other handgun I have ever owned and feel confident in both the pistol and my skill to use it.

I used to carry the Glock in an old deSantis "FBI" laminate holster, but have just started using the Blackhawk SERPA. Some have proclaimed the SERPA as "dangerous" because of some reports of users shooting themselves on the draw. After hours of "dry drawing" my Glock I have come to the conclusion that the reported accidents are due entirely to incompetent handling of the firearm. At least in my case, the release latch on the SERPA does not make my finger enter the trigger guard any sooner than the deSantis holster - when I intentionally place it there.

Pictured below is my G17 in the SERPA holster, secured by a Wilderness laminate belt. What are your favorite carry guns?

If heading into the ghetto, I'm bringing Sig P232 SS stashed in pocket also.
Yes, I'm paranoid and rather have and not need than the other way around.
I carry extra mags for backup in case of malfunction, not more firepower, flashlights and pocket knives are obvious tools, not weapons.

I haven't set up a hosting page, but sometime in the near future, I'll be able to post some decent photo's.. that said, I usually carry my full size 92FS PS w/trijicons in a 518 Safariland paddle, or my G-30, but I finally found a holster for my G-21SF and it's quickly becoming my favorite .45 of all time.. If anyone else needs a holster for the latter, it's distributed under the 5-11 name, but made by Blade-tech and the paddle is quite uncomfortable (hard plastic). I havn't tried the belt loop setup yet.. I obviously prefer a nice leather Safariland 518 paddle.... J

I like it, alot. A bit heavy, perhaps, for folks used to carrying polymer pistols, but with the right holster, it fits the hip nicely. I use a Galco COP 3-holer.

I need to get some decent grips for it though. The SIG factory grips are for shit. Overall, IMO, it is comparable to the P-220 Carry. I'm more comfortable with the 245 than I am with a 229 .357/.40. (I still can't get used to the muzzle-flip of the .40 S&W round in a smallish pistol. I'm a bit more proficient with an HK USP in .40S&W.)

FYI for SIG pistol owners:

SIG SAUER is coming out with Aluminum grips for their pistol line. I happened upon a SIG rep at my local funshop, and he had a new model 226 with the Aluminum grips, and boy, are they comfy! They're a bit slimmer than the standard SIG factory grips. MAP for the grips will be around $170.00! However, they will come standard on the new model 226. The pistol will have a MAP of $1069.00, I believe. Neither the grips nor the new model 226 are on SIG's website yet, but keep your eyes peeled, they're coming.

I'm still a 1911 guy at heart, but I've yet to find any other pistol that can really match the original P7 in the CCW role.

Hi all,

My first post here on this great site. I was a Glock carrier for many years, have had an early G17, G19, G21, and was later issued a G30 (which was returned to the department when I transferred). I also have/had railed G22 and G23, a G27 and a G26. I was a GREAT supporter of the Glock, until I had several functioning issues with my G22 + M3 light, which was used as an entry weapon. Many other deputies on my department also had similar function problems with their G22's with lights mounted. My G22 was "repaired" by Glock, but without any direct explanation as to the cause of the problems. As a result of that incident, I lost faith in the system...with regard to a flexible frame having a light assembly mounted.

Since that time, I retired the G22 and the G23. I will probably give the G22 to my son (non-LEO), but I have to keep the G23 forever!!!... I sold the G27, got a G26, which I love and carry often off-duty. Now for duty, I got two SIGs, a 226R and 229R. Both of these weapons are great, and I will carry them both until I retire. I use the 226R as a tactical entry gun with a TLR-1, and the 229 is my daily plain clothes carry gun.

Oh sure. This guy comes on here and in two posts he's flashing around the Nighthawk.
Beautiful! I like it, I like it a lot. Welcome to the board!
I'm still lugging around the ol XD .40 Service model, every few days I have to take it apart and brush the dust and dirt out of it(I carry it daily doing carpentry and painting at the moment). I'm glad it's an XD, but I'm looking quite hard at the Springfield TRP. I know that the XD is always going to go BANG, and the TRP will be a "babied" a little more(at least at first), but I'll still carry the XD at work for now.

No pics yet.

Lately it has been my Kahr CW40. Darn thing is accurate, reliable, and nice to carry. It is in a modified Blackhawk IWB that was originally for my Springfield XD.
When I have to have something that will not show, it is my Kel-tec P32 in a pocket holster. Great for for when the sheeple may try and give me more hassle than I need, if they were to spot me carrying.

What are your favorite carry guns?

http://www.canonshooter.com/photos2/g17c-5.jpg
For you photogs; Canon 10d, Canon 17-40/4L, Bogen 3001 tripod with Kirk BH-3 ballhead, 1.3 seconds at f/8, self-timer and mirror lock up. Photo taken indoors, indirect light under skylight.

I like your set up. I dont usually carry but when I do its either my G23 with Fobus Evolution roto paddle or Ruger LCR with Tuff products in the pocket holster. Sometimes both. I want to get a G19 for everyday carry since I hear so many good things about them and I simply love Glocks. They are the best. I might et rid of the Ruger LCR. Trigger is wa to heavy and its not very accurate past 10 yrds.

Which Wilderness belt is that? Is it the original instructors belt? What width and stiffness? Do you have link of where I can buy it? Thanks

Looks like we have something in common... The Kershaw Ken Onion Tactical Blur. You can spend a lot more on a pocket knife but I don't see any reason to. I've carried this one for a couple of years and it's holding up just fine.

My carry is one of two options. A Glock 19 or 23, usually the 19...

My new carry.. just need to get enough rounds through it to make sure it's still going to be "Glock reliable" with the mods I have done to it. This started out as a fun project, to get some goodies and have a fun range gun, but I like the feel of it and it is a lot lighter than the 229 that I've been carrying, so when I get enough rounds through it to make sure there aren't any problems, this will be full time. I have to wait another month or so before I get my Raven for it, anyway.
