I noticed that the pictures posted of the "pre-production" Rainier Arms UltraMatch Billet Upper have sharper (less round) edges--more noticeably on the right side of the receiver.

See the following original post: http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1318

My question is, are the top larger pictures the final asthetic design we can expect or is Rainier Arms looking to keep the sharper edges? I personally love the sharper edges (as indicative of most, if not all, billet receivers), but round edges do take a bit more abuse before wear occurs. Also, A3 and A4 configurations tend to vary between manufacturers; if anyone could elaborate which features are specific to which configurations, please.

Nevertheless, it looks to be a winner.

Thanks for your replies!

John got one of them to me, and my understanding is that the cosmetics will be the same. The differences are going to be a fractionally wider lug, and thats about it from what I recall.

Here are a couple pictures, I'll try to get some more shot that show ti close up.

Excellent. Thank you Stick.

I may just end up buying two of these since VLTOR uppers are backordered for longer than I can stand to wait.

In the meantime, I'm building a dedicated 22 to keep myself busy.

When can we expect these? I have an APA lower that would fit nicely.

According to Rainier Arms, very soon. Within a few weeks. They will be in the lower 200 dollar range to match the price of competitors. If you're local (Auburn, Washington) I suggest dropping by their business (avoid the shipping fees); the guys there are really friendly and accomodating.

Also, they may let your browse a little. Keep in mind it's not a store, but rather a warehouse. They primarily run their business through the internet (cheaper overhead).
