Seem to be. With this you pick your barrel length and profile, and either .300blk or 5.56

The upper and rail are more like their predetAR or whatever cute name they gave it. I personally think it's cool, but I'm definitely UNsure that's it's cooler than a V7 upper and forened... which is the way I've been leaning.

No problem, Mike's a good dude. On that UBR 2 I've heard some are having the screw back out, they said Magpul's thread lock wasn't holding. They recommended using something a little stronger.

Stone do you prefer the Gen 1 UBR? Just curious, as I picked up a Gen 2 UBR just to try out. Haven't installed it, but the Gen 1 UBR just feels better. I hear you can put an A5 extension and spring in the Gen 2 though.

The last build I did with the Gen1 was that Noveske billet build and it has an 18.5" barrel on it so the heavier stock balances out the rifle nicely. And on my kids 16" mega build which has the heavy profile mega barrel its kind of the same logic, good balance. Actually I haven't handled the Gen2 yet so cant give a direct comparison. All in all its a great stock.

I would have spent more on the 20% sale at AIM surplus if I was faster (couple items like Griffin ambit safeties went OOS) and hadn't bought the Xanthos receiver set during the 2A Flash Sale. Wanted to pick up a set of Knight's Back-up sights from AIM but settled on a BCM buffer tube for my future SBR (currently has a pistol buffer while waiting for the stamp)

Played with it a bit today. Adjusts remarkable well in bright direct sunlight, indirect, shade, under roof and inside.

Perfect addition to wife's AR... no fussing with anything, just pick it up and shoot. 2.8oz with riser mount.

On a side note it is really funny how different forums praise different things. Before I knew what was what. 68forums praised that mount( not saying it's good) and recommended it to all.

Since y'all brought it up...

I'm always on the lookout for something. Found a used PEPR for $25. Dropped it in the AR parts box and forgot about. A couple years later I put together a CMMG dedicated .22. Got a Bushnell 1-4x from Palmetto on a Christmas sale while Bushnell was also giving rebates. Total cost $39 (about all they're worth really... but I digress). I'm thinking the PEPR will work nicely except that it's got those tacticalized rail thingie caps. So... I call Burris customer service and explain to one of their nice young ladies that if I show up at the club with these tacticoolerizing railed caps the boys will terminate my gate card. She laughed... then asked for my address and sent me smooth caps free of charge. How great is that, right?

From all of the Larue emails I get, it seems to me that LT is getting squeezed in this market just like everyone else and they're just trying to make sales. Other than the occasional MBT sales, one thing that would help is if they brought some of their prices back down to pre-Newtown levels.

Looks like you have to buy a parts kit to get that deal; $1400 unassembled, or $1600 assembled.... pretty good for a Larue rifle, but, you're not getting out the door for the lower cost only

My understanding is the USMC bought a ton, didn’t use them and DRMO’d them. They were bought up and have been happily sold by reputable dealers nationwide (no one ever punished that I can find), but KAC is mad ‘cause profits.

I think it boils down to KAC propaganda versus how the system actually works. I have numerous pieces of gear that are issued specifically to me (as notated in my record), but when I retire, no one will be missing it when I depart, perfectly legally.

I don't know that the USMC bought a ton and then DRMO'ed is the right way to put it. More like USMC bought a ton, they weren't used for periods of time in phases, and then USG would auction them off, in phases, which is why they came to market. KAC was obviously being undersold and were upset (get over it). That said, there have also been incidents where NCIS showed up for specific purchases, but it's not a carte blanche, USMC is bad type of thing. But to believe KAC when they say that EVERY USMC-marked sight is stolen just doesn't understand the stock system and how the government tries to recoup "used" gear.

Last time I talked to Guy ... he was taking a break from the industry. Can't blame him with the race to the bottom as far as prices goes. He had very little overhead so I think he's taking a break until the market improves. He said he would be back.

Last time I talked to Guy ... he was taking a break from the industry. Can't blame him with the race to the bottom as far as prices goes. He had very little overhead so I think he's taking a break until the market improves. He said he would be back.

Makes sense, definitely a buyers market these days

Of course I have a few weapons I want to buy and/or build out but I want to invest in a lot more reloading supplies in 2018. Bullets, powder and lots and lots of primers. I have an ok stash now in most things but I want to double or triple up on everything. Maybe I am still paranoid from the Obama era about ammo shortages.

Sooner than that. When reserves eventually drop, via this kind of attrition, prices can go back where manufacturers want them.

I kind of agree, but supply is still flush. Until we see people going out of business, which I think we will soon, I think prices will remain low until at least the mid-terms.

I'm fine with the budget guys getting shots at upgrading their gear for cheap, but I'd really like for SCARs and MRs to move into my price range. Unfortunately, they have the Colt phenomenon on their side with govt contracts, and less focus on the civillian market, and no need to control pricing because of controlled production. The demand for high-end stuff never goes away.

Spoke to the FN guys at TRIGGRCON. Not enough SCARs to import in sufficient numbers currently. If they were widely available, they're never going to be as cheaper than around 2k.

I should have grabbed up a 17 when they were sub $2300.

Can't blame you. I think I sold off 20k worth of stuff. Crowning achievement for me 20+ LR20 Mags for $90 each. In hindsight I should have sold off my entire collection at the time, and just repurchased everything I wanted with cash to spare later.... or dumped it all into bitcoins and retired. [:D]

The legacy mounts are pretty much all gone, other than random finds on the internet. However the RC1 uses the same "new" SOCOM mount that the RC2 uses. Additionally, for a while, SF would say you could safely mount SOCOM cans on legacy mounts (which I have done numerous times), but they've since backed off that, presumably because stupid people were being stupid and they started having baffle strikes.

Those AU prices are pretty amazing. If only I didn't need to be responsible with my money.

My understanding is you can still call and order legacy mounts. They still make them in batches. However, like gator already pointed out, these use the newer SOCOM FH, Brakes, Warcomps, ect.
