Yup, that is what I was afraid of. I've kind of come to the conclusion that I don't need an actual full upper. I will more than likely just pick up a 13in KMR and a BCM BFH 16in Mid Length Barrel. I might pickup a B5 Bravo as well to replace my EMOD.

I had the same thought for the past 3 days or so since I found out about the sale. Decided to suck it up because it probably wont get better than this. Just bought a 14.5" Enhanced Light Weight - Fluted with 13" KMR upper that I've had my eye on for a while. Their throwing in the BCG just makes it too sweet of a deal.

I was right. I think that is the last time they will have that good of a deal. I got lucky, got home from the gym, took a shower sat down to watch tv and got an email it was in stock. While I'm not an "AK guy," unfortunately, the next big push is on that front. Ammo went away a couple of months ago (relevant to me because I run an AR in 5.45 and use 7n6) and now Saigas and Veprs are going away. The barrel, charging handle and their bolt just makes it an amazing package. I'm going to sell my EOTech 517 and upgrade to an Aimpoint H-1 with a larue absolute co witness mount. Also going to sell my Vltor EMOD and pickup a B5 Bravo. Then going to pickup a Surefire Scout in a thorntail keymod offset mount from Impact Weapons.

I have both so I know this, but thought you should be made aware. Also, consider waiting for the new BCM stock to release as it's supposed to be very light yet very sturdy.

My WTF moment for the week - a clearance at MidwestUSA that contains its normal pretty decent deals......and THESE bits which I can hardly believe at the pricing.

BARRELS:

I have one of these bought back in the Adams branded days. The profile is controversial and 0.625 gas blocks are wonky (they should be lighter) but this barrel has served me well as the basis for a lightweight carbine. I really like the melonite finish, except when pinning my Wilson Accutac, which is also QPQ finished.

I don't want to mess up the build process before I completely understand the AR-15; 2.)gunsmithing parts cost a decent chunk of $$$ (and my house just simply doesn't have the facility to do so); and 3.) the roll mark (to say that I have one, vs having a pseudo copy)

I wouldn't bother. You can build one for a fraction of the price. Oh no, it's a quick process. I'd say the longest part of it is barrel and gas block/tube installation. With the proper tools I would say less than half an hour, without any extra processes (drilling barrel for pinned gas block, etc)

I was intimidated to build an upper at first too. Swapped out the barrel and rail on my BCM and was amazed at how easy it was.

I say unless the rollmark is a must, build one.
