Smoking deals on M4s there! I've been trying to get my hands on one for years now! Just can't convince "other people" in the house hold that spending $800+ on a new one is a good investment. [BD]

The ones on Clydes always look trashed though. You can find some safe queens on the EE from m4c to arfcom pretty regularly. I wouldn't buy a new one, so your wife is smart!

I purchased my one and only M4S brand spanking new, but i got a bad-ass deal on it. Only cost me $659 when i bought it. It's my favorite non-micro red dot. I need to scour the EE for one or two more of those safe queens.

I was thinking about that one. It comes out to be about $705 which I'm sure with the mount is still a good deal but I feel like I can wait and find better. Who knows though [BD]

I think i paid $150 for my Bobro mount. Although, if you find one with the standard QRP mount for a screaming deal, i'd snag it. It's not a bad mount and will work just fine while you decide what mount you want to replace it with.

From the looks of it, Scalarworks (https://scalarworks.com/optic-mounts/) appears to have a mount for the M4/M4S in development. That might be worth waiting for.

Was bored browsing gun stuff on the internet at strange hours ,putting stuff in my cart and talking myself out of the purchase right at the place order part - I'm assuming I'm alone in this[BD] and I thought to myself I need to go chrono a bunch of loads . My Ced2 hasn't been working and whats that fancy new magnet thingy ? So I go check out the Magnetospeed V3 and decide I wan't it but not at $399 . I have never placed an order with them, but Kentucky Gun Co (https://www.kygunco.com/index.cfm) has the Trijicon MRO w/mount for $451 (price quote via email so they don't violate MAP I guess). I did the 110% price-match with SWFA (http://swfa.com) and have one on the way for $440 shipped. Not a bad deal.

Magpul hasn't made those in a long time, to my knowledge. I think your best bet is going to be the Gen M3 20 rounders in the sand color.

Botach...yuck. I tried to give them another chance recently and they screwed up again. Item showed as over 700 in stock, but after a week, no shipping notice. When I inquired they replied they were waiting for shipment, so I cancelled the order. A couple weeks later they billed and shipped the cancelled order. The sad part, I wasn't surprised.

I have run 250rnds of their 147gr New 300BLK. It all cycled great in my 8.5" barrel and MVB PDW Stock with carbine buffer. Great price for new brass 300BLK. I was peaking around for some heavier 5.56. Great price for 75gr. Since I had cycling problem with the rifle I have only shot 15rnds. It put out 1.5MOA at 100yds. And I would bet thats more me than the ammo.

After PA's 30% sale over the holidays it's hard to get excited about 15%. But if you are in need, I think it's the best you'll find right now. The sale doesn't go live until the 27th, though, so maybe PA will trump it again.

30% for many Geissele dealers is below cost. In fact, unless you're a Tier 1 dealer, you won't get anywhere near those margins. I doubt you'll see that going on too often.

Unless it's the SHOT SHOW coupon, Geissele won't undercut their own dealers, so 10-15% is what you'll typically see from them. Either way, 15% is pretty good for Geissele on a sale. I think their handguards are bargain now, ever since they lowered the price, and included a GB... now if I could get G2S's again for $115...

Last SSA I bought cost me $170. I thought it was a pretty darn good deal. I will go ahead and spend the extra coin for an SSA, over the G2S, because of the extra QA/QC. It's the gas-pedal and the brakes and the suspension all in one. If it in any way breaks, the car is unsafe/won't go/won't stop.

You building a 10.5? 11.5 isn't a bad choice at all. In fact I was back and forth on mine until I finally just picked something. Now I know. But if you have a choice in the matter still then an 11.5 is an extremely good choice.

I have given a lot of thought to building an 11.5 and a 12.5 upper...but in hindsight I think I would probably go 11.5. Not that I am not extremely happy with what I have... just saying so... 11.5 ain't a bad choice at all.

"Reliable" is one thing... but after owning and shooting and chronographing and doing all that jive.... an 11.5 will give you a lot more leeway in way of ammo. I say that in terms of this.... I think it was Molon or someone (probably him) who had some big study and it showed the distances and which what grain weights and types of bullets are reliably good for self defense.

Basically if you use a 77 or 75 grain bullet you are good to about 50 yards with a 10.5" barrel. Of course if someone was 75 yards out and you shot em it still wouldn't be nice... but that extra inch provides critical velocity that gives much more leeway in those kinds of terms.

I mean if you are shooting in a phone booth it won't matter... but if you say want to take your gun on a pig hunt or something it could make a big difference. That extra velocity between 10.5 and 11.5 does make a difference. And in fact 12.5 is probably the best all around SBR length for 'just everything'. Of course I am no expert but many people who are say 12.5 is the way to go.

At the end of the day whatever you pick is going to need to be made for the purpose you are using it for. 50 yards is a pretty good distance but if you can say extend your 'guaranteed bullet fragmentation range' out to say 75 yards it would be even better I think.

Again it boils down to your intended use. Also if you have a suppressor the longer you go the less wear on the can and the (technically) quieter it can be.

There are a number of reasons to go longer but again it all boils down to the purpose. If you are just shooting cans and plinking around it won't matter. But a 10.5 will still be plenty loud trust me.

Also as I found out, when it comes to 'reliability' you might have to tinker around a bit. JerryR gave me an H2 buffer and so far I haven't had a hitch one. Without it though I think my carrier speed was a bit too fast from over gassing. Again though that is going to be a function of the parts you use and the porting size and a number of factors... just know that you might have to tinker around with stuff to get the reliability you are after... at least I did.

Nah, not really a big deal. My "Umbrella" build has been done for quiet some time and is using a lightweight BCG and is tuned for usage with that with both an adjustable gas block and a lightweight buffer spring, so it doesn't need or want a full weight BCG.

That said, an Umbrella BCG was kinda an afterthought with me debating a BCG for a new, less experimental build I've slowly been accumulating parts for.

Interested to see the changes in the gen. 3.

Vortex seems to be discounting the Viper HS 4-16x44 w/ V-Plex reticle right now. You can pick them up at OP or Amazon for $340 which is basically $10 more than the Diamondback HP. MAP on these is typically $499, I believe.

never did get one... finally made it deep into the checkout process, but it hung on sending my info to the payment page, the final step. I had to resist that deal to let the spending cool. Then again with Apex, you can get close to that price (with free shipping) every day.

I would have jumped on the 2/2 two stage however but it was out of stock.

They built a huge Amazon hub in Maryland and now the deals are not so good with the sales tax on top. Our rate is not as bad as Washington but 6% makes a difference.

Here we have 8.25% so it really makes a difference depending on what you are buying and how much you are buying. Then tack on shipping or FFL fees or whatever and it can add up in a hurry. We have a lot of vendors here that sometimes make really good deals but by the time you factor in 'to the door' price sometimes they aren't as good as other online deals...

Costco, of all places, (at least the one in Tukwila, WA) has a pretty good deal on ammo cans. A .50 cal can with a .30 cal can nested inside it for $15.99. They're not US made, but for two steel ammo cans, it's a pretty good deal. Quality seems to be on par with any other ammo can i've ever purchased.

Anyone know what's up with the Rainier Avalanche charging handle? Been out of stock everywhere and now places are starting to show it as unavailable or no longer available. I called Rainier and the guy I talked to told me it's NOW called the Raptor.... and that it's made by AXTS and basically the same...

Someone is confused here, and I'm thinking it was him.

I've got Raptors. I like my Raptors, but I'm hunting for something else. Anyone got the low down?

The Geissele is superior to the Avalanche, unless you want to customize it.

Not available yet, but Rainier has hundreds of these Christensen Arms Forged Receiver Sets on order, which should drop in the next 60 days. They are $220 MSRP for the set, which is a great deal. However, with your Apex membership they should drop to under $200 for the set. I've handled them at Rainier on a demo set. They have the looks of a Billet lower, but it's actually a forging. The set they had for demo was in spec, and no issues with building it up.
