Hey guys:
I've been pondering getting a bag for a trunk gun setup, and was wanting suggestions on what to turn to.

My initial plan was to get a Maratac Satcom bag, and store one of my 16" BBL AR's in it, broken down. However, getting home, and breaking out the tape measure reveals that my particular AR upper is 24" long. The Satcom bag is 20" long. (http://countycomm.com/satcom.htm for those interested). So, of course, this means going back to the drawing board.

In the interest of this being a KISS project, all I'm wanting is to keep an AR, and 3 mags. Thus, I don't have a need for a huge bag to carry ALL my stuff with me. Also, staying compact is big on me, as I don't have a huge trunk.
Suggestions?
-Adam

Take a look at the Blue Force Gear DAP discreet case ([http://www.blueforcegear.com/product.cfm?type=cat&cat_id=11&prod_id=156). It's 28" OAL so it should fit your upper fine. You could add the 10 Spd M4 Mag Pouch Dapper (http://www.blueforcegear.com/product.cfm?type=cat&cat_id=11&prod_id=162) and keep the mags on the same half of the bag as the lower.

Bag (I'd opt for another color, like blue)

Bag closed in a more appropriate color

Dapper (velcro-backed to stick to the outside wall(s) of the bag)

The CavArms Discreet Rifle Bag (http://www.cavalryarms.com/DRB.html) is similar to the CountyComm Satcom bag but is designed to fit up to a 20" broken down AR. I have a blue one for my trunk gun with a matching blue Mini-Sneaky active shooter bag. I've shown it to several people and none of them thought "gun" or "rifle" when they saw it, and instead thought it was a folding chair bag, camera gear bag, or soft cooler.

I also use YHM EZ-Takedown pins on all of my ARs, use a single point sling on my trunk gun in the bag to prevent a tangled mess while deploying, use a 20 round magazine loaded in the lower, and practice assembling/deploying from the bag.

Have you looked at the SO Tech "go bag", I was in LA and looked at the one they had out. Jim Cragg was on hand to show off the "go bag"

Another consideration is a local company here in the PNW over by Fort Lewis.

I have one of these and prefer the Eagle.
