Maybe it's just me, but that thing bears a strong and uncanny resemblance to the Beretta CX4 Storm.

And oddly enough, it also bears a striking resemblance to their M4 Shotgun - http://www.benelliusa.com/shotguns/benelli_m4.php

Although I do like the way Benelli's shotguns feel, that is one ugly carbine. It definately needs the originall "Beretta" collapsable stock and a flash supressor.

I can wait until at LEAST Gen.III, to see how it turns out... :o

These were shown at the SHOT shot back in 2006. It bears a strong resemblance to the Beretta Rx4 Storm because Benelli is a subsidiary of Beretta and it is for the most part it's the same rifle. From what Iv'e read, the Benelli is the Civilian version. The action is based off of the R1/M4. All three stock options on the Rx4 where clearly Benelli. Nice to see it finally come out.

This has to be the ugliest firearm I have ever laid eyes on.

It's supposed to fill the niche of a politically correct patrol carbine - which it does okay. Slap a T-1, X600, and some EMags in it, and it wouldn't be quite as unattractive.
I still see no valid reason for any civilian to buy one of these.
