Here's what I'm building for a basic, reliable carbine unless someone can persuade me to do something different somewhere. I'm new to AR's and welcome any thoughts from knowledgeable people who feel like being helpful.

Already purchased:

Stag lower receiver
Stag/CMT lower parts
BCM mil-spec buffer tube and spring
BCM H-buffer
BCM charging handle
Magpul MOE stock
Magpul MOE grip
Magpul 30 round magazine with window
Magpul MOE handguard
Magpul MBUS rear sight

Not ordered yet:

BCM auto BCG
BCM 16" barrel/upper receiver group

I'm all ears for suggestions.

I like it, would feel well armed with it and can't find fault with any of the items listed. About the only tweak I would make to the list if it were my own would be the addition of the MOE trigger guard. Add in a good sling and a few more mags and your on your way. Down the road if your so inclined you can pick up an optic.

+1 on your established kit bro...I would probably go for a good mountable flashlight prior to an optic...but that's just me...

Sounds like a solid setup, thats all great stuff. If you wanna get an affordable optic, check out the various EE's and look around for an Eotech 512 or an Aimpoint ML2... you cant go wrong with either.

Ill also echo the above posters in that a light would be a good idea... a surefire G2 in a VLTOR mount is a affordable and great option.

That's identical to the carbine I just put together except a Doublestar lower and a 14.5" BCM upper with a pinned YHM flash suppressor. I wanted something short and since I live in IL this is as short as I can legally go. I put a EO 511 on it and am chomping at the bit to shoot it but work keeps getting in the way....eck....

sling options? Vickers, VTAC, or Magpul? equipment choice is good.

sling options? Vickers, VTAC, or Magpul? equipment choice is good.I have no idea about a sling. I don't know enough about either the platform in general or what I'll be doing with it to be able to think about a sling yet. Coyote hunting truck tool. Practice carbine for my delayed entry USMC son. Testosterone plinker. House clearing zombie getter. Protest against creeping statism. I guess I'll think about slings when I settle on what this rig is . . . for. Is there a universal sling for all of the above?

My sling came from Gear Sector. It isn't cheap, but I couldn't be happier with the quality. I chose a 2-point sling, which, depending on what type of attachment setup you plan on using (quick release, HK style, or the normal sling loops), it seems to be pretty versatile. The service is top-notch from that company too.

Just bringing this back up to let you know the rifle is completed now, and to say how pleased I am with Bravo Company. Great product, great service.

Weather is bad so no report on how the thing shoots yet.

Slacker, lets see a picture at the very least... [:D]I hope you know how intimidating it is, after looking at your photography, to think about posting some of mine! :o

I just got back from the woods. The first function check went without flaw. No sighting in yet. Just testing all functions. Flawless. Smooth. A nice firearm I think.

Stick's pics are hard to measure up to, but we all post pics of our wares no matter how crappy our photography is.

Let's see it.

I want a coffee table book full of Stick's 'Gun Porn' pics!

And I like the rifle, how do you like the MBUS?

That looks somewhat like this one. MBUS added post photo.

Here's a picture of my new BUIS. It's made extremely well, has no aluminum parts, which I would expect makes it one of the strongest options around, and it has a nifty "Z" setting for zeroing the elevation using a 25-meter target. I hope to get out to the woods with it tomorrow.

Here's another picture of the KAC BUIS (and kudos to the first person who can identify the tool in the background).
