NOTES
- Magpul BAD does not fit with Sun Devil upper .
- Daniel Defense Lite Rail does not fit on a Sun Devil Upper Receiver--lesson learned, so I used an M4 Rail.
- Bushmaster 2-stage comp trigger with ambidextrous safety was ill-fitting; safety selector was rough when exercised - replaced with RRA safety and Timney trigger group.
- Timney install requires pliers to move the spring arms to either side in order to reach allen head seating screws that secure the group in place--there is a trick to it.
- Definitely fun to get all the packages in the mail, but shipping costs can be a bear coming from multiple suppliers and at different times. Definitely a nice rifle despite what it cost to assemble.
- Built as a high-end lead chucking machine--works very well; extremely pleased with my rifle.

Still Considering
- Norgon Ambi-catch
- Is there a way to mount a Magpul BAD without using the backing plate?

I used this rifle at a Pat Rogers (EAG Tactical) carbine course in early October. I never fired this rifle prior to the course and it is the first I have ever built from scratch. I shot decent, but wish I had it zeroed before going to the course because I didn't feel I had the best zero the entire two days, although I shot decent enough. I definitely like the 2 MOA Aimpoint as it does not cover too much of the target. The Seekins and Sun Devil receivers fit very snug on this rifle. The Timney 3-lb trigger is very light--good for quick shots without a lot of squeeze play to prevent jerking the rifle around. The PWS FSC556 was interesting since I have only ever used a flash hider--this compensator seemed to keep me on target fairly well between shots. The Magpul MS2 sling made the weapon easy to control while I moved and manipulated the rifle for various drills. The forward grip was perfect as a reference point on the 12-inch DD M4 Rail. It was nice to watch the smoke billowing out through the holes in the rail when she got hot. Overall I am glad I built this rifle and I am very pleased with myself for building something that did not blow up in my face.

One thing I did at the course that I have never done is use Slip2000 for my lube--Slip2000 is to AR rifles what that Franks Red Hot Sauce is to food, where that old lady says, "I put that Sh!t on everything."--in this case, the bolt, charging handle, bolt carriage, and a little on the trigger group. Here are a few pics. The rifle has some scratches, scrapes, and a lot of slip2000 splatter on it in the pics. I cleaned it up after the course, but hey, I built this thing to run.

This is a pic of the BCM Gunfighter charging handle installed--too bad it was after the course finished.

A pic before firing at the course--had a Gear Sector sling on it while waiting for my Magpul MS2--the Gear Sector is home on another rifle.

Is that a regular Sun Devil Upper? The reason I ask is that they do not come with M4 Feed Ramps and you put a barrel with M4 feed ramps on it. How is that working for you? Cam you post a pic of the chamber?

It didn't seem to make much difference in the 700+ rds fired during the course. I realize the differences in the receiver and the barrel, but I experienced no feed issues. I'll see if I can get a pic of the chamber posted soon.

Thanks, my wife has a Sun Devil upper and I was looking at re-barreling it.

I guess the biggest thing to note is that it fed from PMAGs without flaw.

M4 ramped barrels in a regular receiver should run fine, but an M4 receiver and a regular barrel will give you problems.

Dirty chamber, but the pic shows my M4 feed ramps in the YHM barrel, but none in the Sun Devil upper--I saw no performance hit here.
