INTRODUCTION:
I did this review on the Aimpoint M4s because I wanted to show some of the differences between the regular Aimpint M4 and the M4s. If I knew about these differences I probably would have bought the M4 Model instead.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN M4 and M4s:
The AImpoint M4 and the M4s are exactly the same scope, except that the M4s has the battery compartment on the lower right side instead of the upper right. This was done to reduce the view obstruction, which it did. However, it also created some new problems.

When I purchased the M4s, I got it with the Larue LT659 High Mount (http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=160). I also bought the Aimpoint 3xMagnifier with the Larue LT649 High Pivot Mount (http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=171). This set-up placed the Aimpoint M4s and the Aimpoint 3xMAgnifier in the lower 1/3 co-witness. The only problem that I noticed was that with the battery compartment on the lower right side, I lost 1 rail space because the battery compartment hit the Magnifier Pivot Mount. Not really a big deal for me because I have the LMT MRP so I can just move it forward, but if I didn't I would not have been able to place the BUIS, Magnifier, and M4s on the flat top.

After trying this set-up, the lower 1/3 co-witness was too high so I switched them out to the lower mounts for a regular co-witness. This was much better for me, but now caused another problem. The Larue Aimpoint M4/M4s mounts have the lever on the right side. With the battery compartment of the Aimpoint M4s on the lower right side, once I installed the M4s on the Larue Mount, I was no longer able to adjust the throw lever with the supplied Larue Wrench because the battery compartment got in the way (NOTE: I was just made aware that a slim open box wrench could be used to adjust the Larue throw lever.). In order to adjust the tension on the throw lever, I had to disassemble the M4s from the Larue mount.

So I decided to go with the Bobro M4 Mount (http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1118) with the Forward Extension (http://www.militarywarfighter.com/aimpoint-12193.html). This set-up actually killed two birds with one stone. It moves the M4s forward in a cantilever position and this is the only set-up that I know of that provides enough room to place the BUIS, Magnifier, and the M4s all on the upper receiver. And now there is enough room for me to flip up the scope covers without having to flip the Magnifier, and I can get to the illumination knob much faster.

CONCLUSION:
IMHO, if you plan on using a 3xMagnifier with the Aimpoint M4/M4s, I would recommend getting the Aimpoint M4 because you can get the 3xMagnifier closer to the Aimpoint and it is easier to get to the illumination knob on the M4.
