Do y'all think one of these is preferable to the other overall, or would one or the other be the top choice in certain specific situations? CQB? Primary sight on a non-optic KISS carbine? Anti-coyote truck carbine? Iron sight hunting rig?

Personally, I like to keep things simple so I prefer a BUIS with the Same Plane Aperature like the Troy. I don't need BDC on my Iron Sights since I don't realistically plan on shooting past 100 yards with my BUIS.

I've broken two Troy rear BUIS, so my personal answer would be to go with the KAC. There are plenty of people who use and like the Troy units, but Murphys law seems to engage me at all times.

Hmmmmm, interesting news Stick.

Troy seems to be such a popular BUIS. Can you expand on the circumstances behind how you broke two BUIS’s?

Was it because they lock in the deployed position? One feature I like about ARMS BUIS’s, is the fact that they lock in the stowed position, but fold if impacted in the deployed position.

One simply gutted itself and came apart, the insides fell out all over.

With the second, its like something sheared inside. It grinds to a stop when trying to raise it, and moves to about the 45 degree mark.

I have a Troy on my duty rig. It works for what I do. I like the same plate aperture that allows me to use the large ring for CQB, while still being able to flip the smaller one for distance or more precise work. I don't have any time behind the KAC, so I can't comment on them, other than to say they appear to be well made.
