Gas Block Question...

Ive always been a fixed FSB user and am a total newb when it comes to gas blocks...
I would just like to know if it is possible to use a handguard cap behind a Laure gas block? or any other gas block for that matter?

Is that due to the need for the gas ports on the barrel and the gas block/FSB to be properly aligned?

I don't use them on my builds, but I'm usually throwing on an extended rail that covers the block.
