I'm considering this scope for my LaRue 18" upper, does anybody have any experience with this scope, and particularly with the BDC reticle with .223/5.56 rounds in the 68-77 gr range?

Any other suggestions would be great.

They are pretty nice, except the reticle. I didn't like the caliber specific reticle. Check out the SWFA 3x9-42 Super Sniper package. It is a much better scope for an SPR build.

Thanks, those are a little more than I wanted to spend. How does the Nikon Buckmaster series compare to the Monarch?

I had the 3-9X40 Pro Staff on my SAM-R Clone. The BDR was pretty accurate out to 300+m with the Rem 55gr. ammo. Was going to try for accuracy with some Blackhills 68gr. Bluebox, when after about 1000 rds. The scope lost zero.

I turned it in for warranty repair to Nikon, received it back relatively quickly, and retired it to my sons bolt action .22LR.

Have a 6-18x40 buckmaster scope on my brother in laws 220 swift bolt action. Side parallax adjust and pretty clear and bright for the price. I just don't like the 1/8 adjustments on that model for the windage/elevation. You just crank, and crank, and crank...

Overall, we've been happy with it, it was a good fit price wise for that gun for 300-400 yard groundhog hunting.

I also have the Nikon 6-18x40 Buckmaster, but I put it on a sporterized 1903A3 and it does quite well at 100-300--I have never taken it to further distances. It does well at light gathering and it is very clear.
