I have a Centurion Arms 16" hammer forged barrel. I'm running a low pro gas block with an 11" VTAC extreme handguard. I would like to run a clamp on front sight just in front of the handguard but it steps down to 0.74" in diameter. Will a clamp on sight for a 0.75" barrel still work or do I need to shim it somehow?

Why not just mount a sight on the hand guard, such as a typical b.u.i.s.?

I like my sight on the barrel. I use a two point sling and if you put tension on it the handguard can flex some which will move your front sight along with it. I've seen guys sling in and actually move there front sight about 3-4 MOA.
I'll probably end up sticking one on the handguard anyway because I don't think it's going to work.

The YHM flip up May actually work for you since it is a clamp on style.

I did some Googlin' and found some adhesive steel shim tape that's 0.005". If I have to I can wrap some around the barrel where the clamp goes and it will bring it up to 0.75". The tape was only $12 for 33 feet. I may give this a try.
