At the SHOT show, I checked out the new products from Sabre Defense Industries. Sabre Defense is making the M16A3 for our military troops and the M16A4 for the law enforcement community. What drew me to their products were the new array of gas piston driven AR rifles and an AR rifle made with a unique one piece polymer lower assembly. There is also a very cool looking silenced AR rifle with a built in silencer.

Let’s put aside the argument between the DI and piston driven AR. What I can tell you is there are more AR builders using the gas piston system now then in previous years. Gee I wonder if this means anything. As mentioned before the milspec monkey crew were on hand and filmed a video which can be seen here later.

The Sabre Defense spokes person was David, who helped in developing their piston system. One thing I did noticed was the BCG, the bolt was spring loaded into the BCG. Sabre Defense uses a process they call “ion bonding” (diamond like coating), this was used on each components to build the rifle giving the rifle a very superior finish and corrosion resistant surface.

Sabre Defense had a lot to offer this included AR rifles for the competition shooter, our military/law enforcement and recreational shooter.

Just to give some credit where credit is due...Sabre Defense's piston system is an Adams Arms system with a slightly modified pinned gas block.

you are correct with the info. Sabre Defense has a working relationship with them. It was mentioned there was a modification to their Sabre upper receiver.

I wonder how many M16A3's Sabre is really making for the mitary- I thought that was primarily a Colt/FN relationship...
