I am trying to make some decesions on my SBR build and looking for a bit of advice. I am a recreational shooter who has had no formal training, I am planning on attending a course or two this year. I have my SBR lower,a casv-el and a YHM Phantom 556. I am looking at either a 11.5 or a 12.5. I am looking at the BCM 11.5 CH upper or should I wait on the 12.5? Pro's or cons if you have em'

Either opne will work well. If you get the 11.5" and you have some cycling issues, I'd get the Noveske KX3 flaming pig which will help. The velocity difference betwen the two will be around 50 FPS so I don't know if that will matter to you. Me personally, I'd get the 12.5".

Our Department Colt Commandos have 11.5" barrels and they are very reliable.

I would get a 12.5". Just a little bit more of velocity and reliability. Plus, you can add a reflex style suppressor later down the road.

Since everybody likes pics, this is a 12.5" barrel cut down from a Colt 6920.

Looks better with a suppressor. [:)]

If I was getting an SBR I would go as short as possible. My LMT 10.5" is 100% reliable and makes sense to have something that is actually substantially shorter than a 16".

That said I would like to have a 7.5" a 10.5" an 11.5" a 12.5" a 14.5" and a 16"!! They are all good.
