What are the chances of your gas key catching a blown primer?

I have seen this about ten times in twenty years.

I would say on average you will see it about once every two years. [:D]

Interesting never seen this before or really considered it, most primers I have seen come loose wind up in the lower. Any specific reason this occured? Or just a fluke?

That is wild, we had a primer get stuck in the trigger and
the darn M4 just kept shooting full auto. This a first for me.

Just bad luck...

I bet you we could throw spent primers in the lower and couldn't make it happen.

Talk about a lousy day at the range. That guy should've bought a lottery ticket that day.

I've heard of it, but never seen it. We do have guys breaking off Q-tips in there, which isn't a great thing.

It happened to me, and I don't shoot as much as lot of you guys. It was a brand new RRA 20" A4. The first day I took it out it would jam up almost every round because of blown primers getting caught up in the BCG. Finally it jammed up to the point where the bolt wouldn't go into battery (locked position). I couldn't for the life of me figure out why until I got home and sure enough, a primer was jammed inside the gas key. Ammo was American Eagle XM193.

I had an armorer hit the chamber with a 5.56 reamer and the problem went away.

I'm sure everything was easily solvable until the forward assist came into play...
