Hello, I am looking to build or buy an upper for my second AR. I have a chance to buy a 14.5 ER Shaw barrel, on a CMT/STAG upper. I have heard these barrels are used on issued M4's. Any thoughts on the quality of the barrel and CMT upper?

thanks-

IIRC, Shaw barrels are used on Model 1 uppers. They're OK but not top of the line and I believe they're only chrome-moly, not chrome lined.

I don't believe Shaw makes barrels for the government M-4. Shaw barrels are not magnetic particle inspected as is required for the military Colt barrels.

I could be wrong, if so, someone will correct me in short order.

Tom

These are stamped 1/7 5.56 NATO MP and are chrome lined. They are about 3-4 years old. The guy I bought them from was storing them. Stag sold them to Arms East in Canada, and I believe they were told they were Mil Spec and the only difference was that the colt ones were stamped C, and these were stamped STAG ARMS.
