View Full Version : What would the purpose of this rifle be?

This is an Enfield conversion, chambered in .45ACP

It's really neat looking, but it's making me wonder why anyone would need a suppressed bolt-action rifle chambered for a close-range pistol cartridge.

This isn't a one-of-a-kind rifle either, this company sells the parts to do these conversions so there must be some sort of market for this type of rifle.

The SAS used them in WWII, known as the De Lisle carbine. That just looks like a "modernized" version.

I wouldn't turn one down, even that one.

Used for taking out sentries if I remember correctly. A few years ago I shot a repro that had a fake can on it.

Yup, sentries, guard dogs, lights... anything you wanted to smack with a big bullet real quiet like. Real ones are nearly silent.

Valkyrie Arms back in business? I'd love to get a reproduction.

Suppressed bolt-action in a major pistol caliber = short range, ultra-quiet, consistent man-stopper.

Quib is remembering correctly. =]

Not sure who Valkyrie Arms is, this one was built by these guys:

I have another question, since I've never owned any NFA items.
If you build an SBR you obviously need a tax stamp, but if you wanted a suppressor for the same rifle would you need to buy two tax stamps?

Unless the suppressor is permanently attached and makes it a 16" barrel, then yes, you'd need 2 stamps.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the stamp for the can is just for the can and does not specify on which gun it will be installed? In other words, if I buy a can for this .45 rifle I can use it on my .45 pistol as well (legally)?

that is correct, can is the can, gun is the gun.

however, you're going to want a booster on a can for most pistols, and not on a can for all rifles.

check out the video at www.aacblog.com for information on boosters.

Thanks, that's what I thought.

I was just using that as an example since that's the gun in this thread.
