The Army is finally going to give soldiers the green light to paint their black weapons so they blend in with the terrain on the battlefield....

Its about time, instead of telling the guys "no you can't", they should be saying "here is what you use and how you do it".

I know there are going to be pros and cons, but for the large part, I see this being a positive change, and one that is past due.

It was only a matter of time, in this case almost 10 years...So are they going to issue out paint or will soldiers have to bring their own?

This would be my suggestion...its removeable:

From Lauer Weaponry.

Doesn't black have a greater IR signature anyway? When viewed through NV or IR, black really stands out. I'm trying to get my LT at work to buy the concept...some of us have mod'd our M4's and he freaked over it [:D]....

If the battlefield were in let’s say San Francisco, would you paint it pink or rainbow?

I'd probably paint it all colors of the rainbow and then rock some pink furniture.

It's definitely about time. Now all I have to do is sit and wait for a CO with some common sense.

it was posted in an article in the Army Times a month or two ago. But ultimately it is at the Company Commanders discretion and he can say yes or no.

Guidance should be out in the next few months on the how and the what

I still see a lot of 'no's' coming in from the unenlightened.

That said, I can see legitimate issues - masking is the most important part of the painting process, and I can see this going badly if unsupervised.

It is about time! I have seen A LOT of bad paint jobs done with spray-paint. This could be a good thing if done right and well supervised.

Has anyone actually seen any of the Duracoat Mission Specific stuff on the market? I haven't been able to find it yet.

Takes very little color additive for a black gun to blend in!
