and I'm getting sick of looking at them.

I've been holding out for DD lightweight barrel so I can build an upper but now I think I'm just gonna build a KISS M4.

Right now I can get a barebones LMT upper and a Troy rear sight from Bravo Co. for $620 shipped and I get a free set of double heat shield handguards which pretty much completes my upper if you include the parts I already have.

Here is the upper:

The only thing I need to do is replace the birdcage with a longer muzzle device and have it pinned.

So my question is, how is LMT's quality these days?

This upper is only $50 more than the BCM 14.5" equivalent, and that's for the non-hammer forged BCM barrel - you don't get free handguards with the BCM upper either so the LMT is looking like the better deal.

Also, if I buy an LMT upper, do I have to run one of those weird LMT bolts or can I run a brand new Colt BCG if the headspacing is good?

LMT makes good quality stuff.

Any BCG will owrk, BCM makes a fine auto carrier, but the Colt is good as well. As far as the "weird LMT bolt" if you are talking about the Enhanced bolt I wouldnt think you would need that. Im looking into one for my 10.5" suppressed build or the slightly longer dwell time.

I thought LMT bolts had some weird shaped extractor that takes two springs, or something like that.

I already ordered the upper and rear sight, but I won't be able to shoot it until I get a headspace gauge.
