I think I know the answer.

Bravo Mid BCM BFH 16" Mid Length Upper Receiver Group with CH & BCG
http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-BFH-16-Mid-Length-Upper-Receiver-Group-p/bcm-urg-mid-16%20bfh.htm
Is the BFH worth the extra money?
or

BCM Standard 16" Mid Length Upper Receiver Group

or

For the price, it is hard to beat the Spikes, but you can't go wrong with any of them.

But which is the better upper?
Are they all pretty much the same? I have never owned or touch any of them.

Well now that I found Stick's review I think I may be sold.

I don't have experience with BCM but I do have a Spikes middy upper and I love. It runs like a sewing machine and is pretty accurate. I don't think you can go wrong with a Spikes.

I don't mean to pick on you, or Spike's, but can you elaborate on the two statements underlined and in bold? These sorts of drive-by opinions on the internut are a major pet peeve of mine.

Whats the deal? Did Spike's screw over some people or something???

I really think BCM would be the best option, if you are concerned about "the best upper." I do think Spikes makes a quality product, though I will admit to only fondling their uppers and have no range time with them. That being said, BCM makes their product to a very high standard and their whole focus is about providing quality, hard use weapons that will be reliable and durable. Furthermore, BCM has a proven track record of reliability, durability, quality and customer service. Obviously Magpul Dynamics gets heavy use of their BCM uppers, and they run more rounds through them in one year than the average user will put through it in their life. Also, EAG tactical uses BCM products and Pat Rodgers has nothing but praise for their weapons. He is never one to sugar coat anything, and praise from him carries some weight (or at least is should). I bought a BCM 16" LW middy upper and have found it to be an excellent weapon. I don't think you would be making a horrible decision by going with Spikes, but in my opinion BCM is a sure bet.

That’s an issue I personally would rather see stay where it originated at, and not brought over here to this web site.

I don't believe that Spiike's makes a garbage product, but in the bigger scheme of things, I carry a BCM upper on my duty weapon right now, which should answer your question.

The Hammer Forged Barrels will last longer. So if given a choice, I'd go with the Hammer Forged one.

I'd actually wait for the BCM Lightweight 14.5" Middy units, hopefully they'll have an EAG-Lite package for those, I can't wait to see how those shoot.

Next question.
Can I change out my commercial Receiver Extention to a mil-spec one? Are the threads different too?

Next question.

Same exact threads. Back off the castle nut, be careful as there is a detent spring hiding under the receiver endplate, slide back the plate and remove the spring and set it aside. Unscrew the extension, going slowly so the buffer retainer and spring inside the lower don't go flying. Catch them and set them aside, and finish removing the extension. Remove the endplate and castle nut from the old extension. Reverse the process for the new extension.

I suggest replacing the endplate with this (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=31766/Product/AR15_M16_QD_SLING_ADAPTER___SWIVEL) while you're at it.

Thanks rob_s. Yep I know all about that damn spring. First time I took the stock off it flew. Took me longer to find that than it did to reinstall everything. Got extras now .

Too late on the sling attachment. I ordered the Magpul ASAP Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point already. If I not like that one I'll check out the Noveske one.

Thanks all. I have been stressin and driving my wife nuts over this.

Yep I know. I got something different anyway. I put some cheap UTG's on it. Yes I know they are cheap. But honestly they are ALOT better than the two piece MI's that I have on the DPMS upper. Very solid. They are a little heavy but that's ok for now.I have some on the STag I have and haven't had one problem out of them. And I have used that one alot. I'll save up and get something better. So far this is what she is looking like.

Well Rob, so far I have close to 2000 rds through it without a malfunction of any kind. Using only a Magpul mbus I am getting 2 to 3" groups at 100 yds with PMC bronze and crappy Olympic ss109. This weekend I will be shooting Wolf through it for the first time and I am curious to see how it does with that.

Ok finally got to take a day off and go out to my place. Zeroed the AimPoint and made sure the rifle would work. I shot around 200 rounds today. Yes it felt good. I shot at a steel target I have hanging at 125 yards was shooting 5.56 Federal Lake City XM193C 55gr. FMJ Ammo. Rapid shots. This upper is Awesome! Very smooth compaired to the Stag carbine length gas AR I have. I shot alot with the buffer that came with the lower (regular cabine) and it felt damn good. I switched it out with a the Spike's buffer just to see. It was a "little" smoother not alot. Anyway guys thatnks for telling me to get this upper. I love it!
