The lever attachment method is a departure from the typical means (bar on the lever, female channel at the selector center's tip.) The dovetail arrangement allows the shear force and pressure to be handled by the dovetail's male/female interface, and leaving the screw to the task of simply keeping the lever and the selector center in place.

Just got mine a few days ago. Im amazed as how quickly and smoothly I can work the safety. Very nice product.
