Some of our readers and forum members may already be aware of this, I personally just found out about 2 weeks ago, and this is simply because I am not one that is continually on the hunt for a better lube.

G96 Synthetic CLP Gun Oil has been APPROVED for use by the U.S. Army for 21st Century CLEANING, LUBRICATING, and PRESERVATION of both Small and Large Caliber Weapons and Weapons Systems. Military Specification MIL-PRF-63460E and NATO S-758 effective September 18, 2009.

I've been a lifelong user of Break-Free CLP but after reading the news that G96 CLP now meets MIL-PRF-63460E, I decided to pick up a bottle to try out.

My initial impression, is that the bottled G96 CLP appears to be slightly thicker than the bottled BF CLP. My personal opinion from my initial observations is that the G96 might fall in between bottled BF CLP and the thicker BF LP. Again, just my first impression and nothing scientific to back this up.

I can't report yet on G96's ability to clean, but for the time being I will be using it for all my cleaning and lubing to see how it fairs against BF's CLP and LP.

I'm also considering mixing up a small batch of OMS/G96 CLP to try in my bolt cleaning procedure.
