Purchasing a Firearm on-line

There are 2 Dealers involved:
One is the dealer you are buying from (Selling Dealer) and the other dealer who is handling your transfer paperwork and back ground check (Local Dealer)

1) Find a reputable dealer you are going to purchase from.
This can be done by either checking feedback from other buyers or from sources you trust. Complete all research before sending any money.

2) Find a local dealer who will handle the transfer.
Simply ask your local dealer if they can do an out of state firearms transfer and what they charge for the back ground check. The fees vary so it's prudent to find out the costs before you ask them for the service. The typical fee is $20-$40.

3) Send Copy of the Federal Firearms License (FFL) to the dealer who you are buying the firearm from.
Once you find a local dealer that will handle the transfer, ask them to either mail or fax a copy of their FFL to the selling dealer you are buying from. If you are planning to fax in the license, make sure you are sending a clean copy so the FFL is clearly legible.

4) Firearm is Shipped.
Once the selling dealer has received a legible copy of the FFL & Order, they will ship the firearm & a copy of thier FFL to the local dealer.

5) Pick up the Firearm.
The day has come to pick up your firearm. You will need to go and fill out an ATF form 4473 and your back ground check must be completed. You pay the transfer fee to your local dealer and now you are a proud owner of a new firearm. Depending on your purchase, other paperwork may or may not be required for your purchase.

FACTS:

If you purchase your firearm outside your state, your local dealer can not charge you sales tax for your purchase. State tax will be charged on the transfer fee ONLY.

All AR15 lowers are shipped to an FFL and can not be sent to your directly
ATF FFL EZ Check (https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/) can be used to see if the selling dealer & local dealer has a kept a current FFL. It is important to note that a copy of the FFL is still needed by the selling and local dealer.
