SHOT Show 2011 is just around the corner (January 18-21) at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. Just about 2 months away to be exact.

Several of the WEVO Staff are planning to and we hope to update you on what is up and coming. I plan to do a daily update from the show for the 3 days that I am attending.

I will try to keep this thread updated with any updates that I come across leading up to the show.

If anyone is looking for travel plans for the show, I found that Expedia.com (http://www.expedia.com) has the lowest rates that I could find. From Seattle to Las Vegas on Alaska Airlines and lodging at the Summer Bay Resort (directly behind the Sands Expo Center) was only $237 per person for airfare and 2 nights lodging.

For more information on SHOT Show 2011 go to: http://shotshow.org/ (http://shotshow.org/)

Disclaimer: We do not endorse Expedia.com, however I am trying to help those out with their travel plans with the best deals that I could find.

If you book your trip with Expedia.com between now and December 31, 2010 and travel before January 31, 2011, and use coupon code festive10, you will save $10 per night off your hotel bill (must be an average of $75 per night stay for deal to work).

SHOT Show is introducing a new app for this year, called SHOTMOBILE.

A “SHOT Show Mobile” application will be available this year for all attendees and exhibitors. The app essentially places all of the show’s information at your fingertips.

App users will be able to find exhibitors, view the floor plan, find sessions and events, show news and alerts, new products and show specials.

Depending on what mobile device you are using, more advanced options will also be available. If you are an iPhone user, for example, you will be able to get suggestions based on your interests, access point-to-point routing to exhibitors at the show, create short lists, plan your agenda, request appointments and callbacks from participating exhibitors, take notes, verify the status of your registration and hotel booking and more.

Stay tuned.

* Quickly Navigate the Show Floor via Interactive Maps
* Find New Products
* See Show Specials
* View Education Schedule and Bookmark your Favorite Sessions
* Set Appointments with Exhibitors and Request Callbacks
* Find Show Services

I am not sure what platforms it will be available for at this point. I would expect that the iPhone would be a definite and Android would be a strong possibility.

The press room is supposed to have much more than last years, so hopefully more work will be able to be done while actually at SHOT, as opposed to going back to hotel rooms.

I saw that as well. The WiFi they provide is nice, but I found a nice app for my Android phone so I can have near broadband speeds from anywhere I have a cell phone signal. The only question is, will I get a signal in the Expo Center?

Actually, I was just going to hang out at the Magpul booth and watch the booth bunnies at work. ; P

The link you posted would not work for me. Above is the link to where we are staying. The room has a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. It is the cheapest rate that I could find that was within a short walk to the Sands.

That's it. Looks like it would be about $821 for me from FLL, but with two layovers going out and one coming back. Dear god.

Hey Rob, I'll buy one of you high end toys for your trip to Vegas. ; P See you there.

OUCH! I guess that one of the benefits in living in the NW is that we are so close to Vegas. On another note, I don't want to know what the cost to fly my entire family (4 of us) to Florida in March would be.

I had cell service in about 60 percent of the center last year, but my new Android seems to get really good reception, so we will see.

That is about what I had for cell coverage as well. In general, I was unimpressed with the facility last year.

Geissele is rumored to have a SCAR trigger at their both. If you gentlemen get the opportunity details on it would be greatly appreciated.

With only 8 days before SHOT Show, some of us are trying to do our last minute planning. This year SHOT has developed a mobile tool for your cell phone. If you have an iPhone, you can download the app directly to your phone. If you are like me and have either an Android phone, Blackberry, or other internet capable cell phone, you can view the webpage version of the app.

Not going?

No, not going. Time & Cost:Benefit analysis says stay home. I was looking at 8-10 hours of travel time each way, and that makes the juice not worth the squeeze.

...and that makes the juice not worth the squeeze.

That's one I hadn't heard before and it made me chuckle.

Like Rob, i can't make it down either. Too much going on in my .mil schedule to make it happen this year but Chad Larsen is going down for Op4guy so at least that is something.

Hoping he brings back some good stuff.
