I read the sticky regarding the pmag cover lanyard and I went a bit further. I enjoy making various paracord items so I made a mag pull on one of my pmags and embellished the dust cover lanyard a bit. I made a Turk's head around the mag, then made a pull and pinned it in place under the Turk's head and under a few of the Turk's head lanyard wraps. I can still get the dust cover on and off for storage if needed and the Turk's head gives a solid gripping point. I'd rather that the Turk's head were "clean" so I'll not weave the ends of the pull into it next time, opting instead to hide them underneath.

Very nice!

It's pretty interesting what guys can do with some lengths of 550 cord. Some day I'd like to sit down with a good tutorial and learn to tie some of those knots.

Hi Quib and thank you. If you ever have a few minutes the "king of paracord" on the web is Stormdrane. Many people including myself get inspiration from him- that and books. I would guess it's alright to post his blog here as he doesn't have anything to do with this type of forum?

I like it a lot. It is clean and appears that it could handle the job just fine. I have a great respect for those who create DIY projects. This one turned out very well. Nicely done.

I lack any skill with 550 cord but have been impressed with what some folks are able to create.

The one property the 550 cord does not have is the rubberized texture.

Thank you Quib, Zero7one and Eric for the replies and kind words.

Eric you're right about the paracord's lack of texture in certain applications. Over time with dirt/wear the cord actually "burnishes" a bit, especially on smoother items. Many of my monkey's fists get that way. I'm hoping with the Turk's head on the mag' it'll provide a more secure grip once dirty and beaten up a bit. Your comment though makes me wonder if some Plasti-dip/cote brushed onto the sides might provide a more secure purchase? I would think it'd soak into the cord a bit making it quite durable, plus a little light sand in it would make it even "grippier". Hmmmmmm...........
