Installation of the Battle Arms Development - Ambidextrous Safety Selector (BAD-ASS)

Installation of the Battle Arms Development - Ambidextrous Safety Selector began with clearing of the weapon. The next step was separating the Upper Receiver from the Lower Receiver. Figure One below shows a few of the basic tools required to complete the removal and replacement of the standard Safety Selector.

Figure Two and Three: Referencing Army TM 9-1005-319-23&P, the Pistol Grip Screw was removed followed by the Pistol Grip. CAUTION: Do not misplace the Safety Detent Spring during Pistol Grip removal.

Figure Four: With the Hammer locked to the rear, the original Safety Selector was removed from the Lower Receiver.

Figure Five and Six: With the original Safety Selector removed, the Lower Receiver was cleaned of old oil and firing residue in preparation of installing the Battle Arms Development - Ambidextrous Safety Selector.

Figure Seven: The Lever Torx Screw threads and the internal threads of the Safety Bar/Axis were throughly de-greased with brake cleaner to ensure proper adhesion of the Loctite 242 (Blue) thread locker recommended by Battle Arms Development and covered on the installation diagram provided with the Safety package.

Figure Ten and Eleven: The Safety Bar/Axis pivot points receive an application of CLP, and the Safety Selector is installed into the Lower Receiver.

The remaining Safety Lever is then installed identical to the opposite side's Lever (Figure 8 and 9 above).

The Safety Detent Spring and Detent receive a light coating of CLP (not shown) and are installed in accordance with TM 9-1005-319-23&P.

The Pistol Grip Screw receives an application of Loctite 242 (Figure Twelve) and following the procedures outlined in the MAGPUL Installation Instructions for the MIAD, the Pistol Grip is reinstalled. (Figure Thirteen and Fourteen)

The Upper Receiver is then reassembled to the Lower Receiver, and a Function Check performed in accordance with the applicable Weapon Operator's Manual.
