I've done some cut-a-ways myself...... http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?2362-AR15-COMPONENT-CUT-A-WAY-PHOTOS

Thank you Sir.

I intend to cut-away the gas path of the FSB similar to your example, just haven't got around to digging up a gas tube to sacrifice.

Do you mind if I copy the photo of your FSB and add that example to my thread? I'll of course give SA full credit for the photo.

This lets people see why their gas block has to be aligned correctly or the gas path is compromised. Also one reason I like to keep the original front sight assembly in place for most applications.

I like how you can also see the location of the tapper pins located in the barrel.

The FSB Cut-Away example from Specialized Armament, has been added to the link above.

Thanks again to Mark for this excellent example and addition to the cut-away AR component thread.

You can also see how the gas block/FSB have a larger opening that the gas port opening.

If one looks close enough, there are also signs of erosion at the front of the barrel gas port.

You can also see how the gas block/FSB have a larger opening that the gas port opening.

That is the first thing I noticed, after looking at this picture it's easy to see how an upper with a canted FSB will still cycle.
