I was thinking about getting some electronic hearing protection. I was wondering who has some experience with it and who makes quality equipment?

JMO but these are the best I have used MSA Sordin Supreme PRO, but they are pricey.

I use Pro Ears and have been for several years now. I really like them alot. I got the ones with the 'chop side' for better cheek weld. The sound attenuation is excellent. I have had hearing loss for a long time now, but since I got these, there has been no more degradation of my hearing.

Take care,

Kelly

I use Peltor 6s and Peltor 7s on a pretty regular basis, and I've been happy with them.

Here is some info and pictures off their site, but one of the best things in my opinion is the amount of abuse they can take.

MSA/Sordins are fantastic, but you will pay for them.

I have a set of Howard Leight electronic muffs in olive drab. Very low profile, which is great for rifles.

A terrific product for around $50 or so. Mine have performed very well during casual range trips and have gotten wet in the rain a little bit, with no ill effects.

I switched from the Pro Ears, which had better sound quality to the MSA Sordin. The Sordin are much more rugged and water resistant. I had problems with the Pro Ears turning off when my head got sweaty. This was very annoying having to constantly take them off, wipe them down and put them back on to do all over again. The Pro Ears also did not have a door to keep the batteries in place, drop them or put them down roughly and the batteries would go flying all over the place.[bash]

IMHO, the Peltor TacSports are one of the best values in electronic ears. Retails for about $100. True stereo so you can tell which direction sounds are coming from and doesn't have the "clipping" that some other ears do when activated dure to loud noises.

I have the Peltor 7S and it's worked pretty good. Love the feature of having the ability to listen to conversations through the mic.

What are the best Cheapest in the ear electronic ears? My ears and head just get so sweaty with muffs on. I actually have some Surefire EP4 in the ear ones in right now. They can't ship flashlights, but they can ship batteries, ear pro and a bulb :(

The in the ear ones I've seen are expensive, but all I seem to find are "Tactical" ones, I thought I saw some hunter ones a few years ago that where cheaper. How is using one electronic ear pro? Is it that distracting?

I have to go with the MSA Supreme Pro X as well.I wear them on ops under my helmet and also on the range. They are waterproof and much more rugged that Peltors. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

I have to agree with Parabellum. The H.L. Impact Sports are very nice. i prefer them over my Peltors. The fit is more comfortable and the profile is smaller. The audio is very clear. My Peltors were always a little distorted. Great value.

I use Sordin Pro's at work, but I couldn't afford them for personal use (they're TCI modified units), but they're extremely nice.

I already know I'm going to end up buying the first pair of crappy Howard Leights that are on sale, but I'm also budgeting to replace them after they quit on me.

Another Sordin user here. I even wear them hunting.

Obviously a "tactical" hunt -- it was the visor that gave it away. :)

I have been using Radians for about a year now. They were cheap ($50ish) and they work very well. If you’re on this website, you shoot enough to justify the expense. I denied myself this little luxury for way too long. If you’re a rifle shooter make sure you get slim muffs so they don’t impede your cheek weld.
