I was invited to the 2011 AAC SHOOT OUT. The event took place not far from Memphis Tenn. in nearby West Memphis/Marion Arkansas. The area was recovering from the flooding that occurred a few weeks back. I was greeted with hot tempertures reaching up to 100 degrees. This was my first time to the event and to Memphis. As home to the King, Elvis that is, I had to go by and look. Sadly Graceland was closed to the public when I got there, maybe next time.
The AAC show was at the Tier One training facility, the place was huge. You were in the middle of farm country and plenty of dirt roads to go on. The event included a 3 gun competition, several training classes covering tactics, EVOC, and CQB in a shoot house. The event had live music, motorcycle daredevils and a raffle to win lots prizes. It was fun for all.
The event drew companies like KAC, HK, Aimpoint, MSTN, ATS, Dainel Defense, LWRCi and new companies like Innovative Arms. I was able to fire just about every weapon platform there, from a silenced 22 subgun, pistols of all sizes, rilfes and the big 50 cal. Did I have fun, heck yeah. I even had a chance to fire the 300 blackout in full auto and semi-auto. As I have mentioned in the past, this was on my bucket list of things to do.
I was honored to meet up with folks in the industry that you've read about or had seen on TV. The staff at the event and town folks in the area were friendly and very kind. I had some of the best BBQ ribs and pull pork there in the Memphis area. So here's some pictures I took at the event. Videos to follow.
