I recently bought a Sig 516 and had a question about the gas settings it has a setting to turn it off completely. Wanted to know what that setting would be used for. Sorry for the dumb question just new to AR's

If you were to turn the gas system off I imagine it would eliminate the action of the BCG making you charge the weapon after each shot is taken.

Just was wondering why you would want it to do that is there any benefit

One of the uses for the off position is to have it shoot like a bolt gun, which could be used for better accuracy. Another use would be if you wanted absolute stealth when using a suppressor, the off position prevents the weapon from cycling, which means even less noise.

I patched together the gas settings from the manual here:

How do you like your 516? I've heard mixed reviews, and it seems that alot of the bad feedback is from people who aren't big sig fans.
