I've always used QD sling mounts so I decided to try out HK snaphooks. Now that might seem like a pain to try, but I want to actually learn if I prefer one over the other, or if one is better than the other in certain circumstances. I've found a few solutions that I'm working with and thought I would share them with you.

My first rifle configuration came with a MOE stock. and a DD QD end plate. The Omega X rail had an integrated QD mount at 3 and 9, so it was a QD sling from the start. Additionally, my choice of stock replacement ended up being a UBR, so anything other than a QD mount was out of the picture. Additionally, the QD mount sockets are either 3 or 9, no option for 6 o'clock.

Then along came Impact Weapon Components and their CSAP QD Mount-N-Slot (http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/csap-qd-mount-n-slot-for-magpul-ubrtm/) and the CSAP Mount-N-Slot (http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/c-s-a-p-mount-n-slot/)

I picked up a QUAD Dual QD sling (http://savvysniper.com/dualquad.html) from Savvy Sniper, which was made with both QD and HK snaphooks sewn into each end. Whichever attachment is not being used is stowed behind a wide slip-loop of elastic (nice and out of the way). This allows you to have one sling that will work with either mounting solution. The Quad Dual QD also happens to be a 2 to 1 pt sling. The adjustment slide is also very nice as it doesn't have any dangling bits. I'm actually working on augmenting my LaRue padded 2 pt sling to the same dual connection arrangement. Savvy Sniper use the smaller QD connectors on slings for lighter weapons (5.56).

So I have two ARs that I've tried to approach in different ways. Both weapons are wearing Troy TRX Extreme rails, and both are set up with Noveske TRX QD Sling Mounts (http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?item_id=trxqd&cat=165&page=1&search=&since=&status=). The 16" is set up with a CSAP QD Mount-N-Slot on the UBR and the OCP Mount-N-Slot (Oblique Connection Point) (http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/ocp-sling-mount-n-slot-designed-for-magpul-industries-corp-ms2-ms3-slings/) on the rail. The 10.3" AR is to be set up with the CSAP Mount-N-Slot and a Magpul RSA on the rail. At this moment I don't have the CSAP MNS on the 10.3" . I expect to have it in the next couple of weeks.

Interestingly, I was able to combine the mounting point of the OCP and the Noveske TRX QD mount. I should make note that only the small QD connector will fit with the OCP installed this way. A Dremel could remove a very, very small amount of material and you would be good to go with the larger QDs.

I see the 10.3" as being more of a single point sling set up, and the 16" will likely remain in a 2 point arrangement most of the time. When running the 2pt QD sling, I'm using the QD mount in the back of the UBR as opposed to the end plate mount. But if I anticipate the need to switch shoulders, I would move to the end plate mount.

I modify BFG VCAS slings to 2-to-1-point functionality. I use an HK snaphook on the front end and a QD socket on the rear hooked into a Noveske receiver endplate. I have short tails that someone was nice enough to make up for me that I work in.

On the front end of the gun, I find horizontal attachments to work best for the HK. Vertical attachments tend to leave the sling binding up in weird ways. The Magpul RSA works really well. I'll be putting one on my copy of your gun :D.
