Don't have a Piston set up. Want one. (Piston Hatters need not post) Just wanted to get some feedback on a Adams Arms kit on a 10.5 SBR.

Initial thought was

10.5 Noveske Lite Barrel
Mega Monolithic carbine length
Mega/Adams arms kit
BattleComp..

Would this be a good setup. What considerations am I missing?

Double check and see if piston kits work with the Noveske barrels. I thought I read something about them nit being piston compatible due to the barrel profile around the gas block.

Depends on the barrel, the stainless steel ones won't be compatible, but the chf ones are mil spec, so they should work.

The Noveske SS barrels won't work with the Adams Arms kit because the gas block seat is 1" instead of the spec 2" for the A2 front sight gas block. The N4 barrels will work just fine. As a side note, when I was putting my Adams Arms piston gun together I originally was going to use a Noveske SS when I ran into the fit issue, Adams Arms told me that they have had heard of someone using a shim sleeve over the Noveske SS barrel to make the AA gas block work. They weren't 100% on it and advised me to go with a different barrel, which I did.

Have used the Adams Arms kit for a few years now on a BCM upper and DD barrel. Runs like a champ. Make sure you lube at all the right points, and you'll like it.

The above posters are correct a about the SS noveske. Go with a trusted barrel, you should be 5x5. I like the set up too. Should look sweet.

If you're going monolithic upper and want a piston, why not the LMT? I know it only comes in the 12.5" flavor right now, but that's a proven system as well, and it's around the same price with all the MRP modular awesomeness.

Well I decided against making the 10.5 a piston system. I may convert a 14.5 I have and keep the 10.5 a lightweight build.
