The following information was received from a Daniel Defense Newsletter:

"Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity." Agree or disagree with the quote, we can certainly conclude that the person whose lips this line escaped had an impact on the outcome of WWII and the world, as we know it today. It was George S. Patton Jr. that spoke these words.

The bar is certainly set high at 101 Warfighter Way in Black Creek, GA, home of Daniel Defense and Ambush Firearms. Though we believe our rifles, parts and accessories to be top-tier, we are rigorously working to improve product design and functionality. So, what has ingenuity produced lately?

June 11th, Daniel Defense made the move to a new rail system on most of our DDM4 models: The DDM4 Rail. The DDM4 Rail is designed using our patented Bolt-Up System. Instead of 6 bolts, the DDM4 Rail only requires 4 bolts. The lower rail in this design is closer to the barrel and was designed for the most optimal ergonomics. Front and Rear Sling Adaptors are integrated into the left and right side rails. The DDM4 Rail measures 1.9" wide, 2.165" high with an inner diameter of 1.08".

Aside from the slimmer, more compact design of the rail, the length required for each DDM4 model will not change. Versions traditionally offered with a 7.0", 9.0", 9.5", or 12.0" rail are being replaced by the DDM4 Rail with the same length & options based on the barrel configuration. The DDM4v7 and MK18 remain unchanged.

It is important to note the new DDM4 Rail will only be available on complete rifles and upper receiver groups; they will not be available for individual sale. Previous rails standard on Daniel Defense rifles will still be available to purchase through dealers or through Daniel Defense.

Along with the new DDM4 Rail, we are launching our Daniel Defense Flash Suppressor and Daniel Defense Front Site Base. The DD Flash Suppressor, 1.875" in length, will be standard on all Daniel Defense rifles. It was put through rigorous testing and evaluation to ensure its performance is significantly better than the standard A2 flash hider. The DD FSB will also be standard on all models that traditionally ship with the A2 FSB. Opposed to being forged, the DD FSB is CNC machined and salt bath nitride finished.

Perhaps one day, people will include quotes from Daniel Defense founder, Marty Daniel, whose words are not that different from the likes of General Patton. "Being selective of who gets to work here is important. Once you do that, it's those people that do everything else. We are a team." Daniel Defense was conceived through ingenuity. Today, we design and manufacture rifles, parts and accessories that exceed the highest standards in the industry: Lighter. Stronger. and NOW EVEN BETTER!

I love that shorter bottom rail. I don't like the "I beam" feel when rails are too tall on the bottom. Very cool.

Whereas I love that feel on the Lite and Omega-X rails. Either way, a more affordable to make handguard that uses the bolt-up system is still a win.
